I was just wondering if there was anyone out there shooting an encore as a predator rifle??? I know that it's only a one shot gun typically but hey in a "perfect" world one is all ya need...notice I said "perfect" Hahaha. Im in the process of building my next turkey gun. SS receiver camo thumbhole and fore arm, and with the release of TC's new Pro hunter Predator am considering picking up a .22-250 barrel.

I shoot one and frankly I love it. I have shot lots of coyotes and even been succussful in follow up shots. There is just something about the encore that I love. I have 3 barrels for mine and it is awesome.

WSMBUCK.... Let us know how that thing shoots when it gets here. The 220 swift is my favorite caliber, you can pound some dogs with authority and I personally think it is one of the most accurate calibers. It is an old school case design but it works like a house of fire. That is probably going to be my next encore barrel. Where did you buy it from?

243 is my Mountain Cougar gun. (I use the AR in 243wssm when I'm down low, but the Encore is my Go-To Mountain/Long Walking gun.)

222 is my Bobcat gun.

Had a Contender, but it was too hard to open, so I switched up to the Encore. I really like it. Gonna move the sling swivel so it'll ride on it's side better, don't like the action lever sticking into my back. Other than that, I love it.

Got a 30-06 Barrel with a Tasco World Class on it for a loaner big-game gun.

(Planning to get a 25-06 barrel for it if I sell my Ruger #1. Also planning to get a shotgun barrel for it for Grouse.)

Alot of people really seem to bash this gun saying that they cant really achieve the accuracy that they can with they're regular long rifles but personally my howa m1500 in .22-250 was out shot consistantly by my fathers encore in .223 granted my 250 was .5 moa and my fathers was just slightly under that which is nothing to complain about but that really was the selling point. How far have you guys been able to reach out and poke with your guns/loads???

Contender Carbine in 221 Fireball, I assure you, mine is quite accurate. It's no bench rest rifle but it will consistantly do better than 1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Many groups have done better than 1/2 inch.

Encore in 257 Roberts. I use 75gr HPs for a varmit/predator load. Shoots those bullets into 1/2" @100yds. I really like hunting with a single shot hammergun...

I shoot the contender pistol, but am planning a carbine soon. Mine are plenty accurate.

if one watches for sales, a guy can get a custom barrel that should be a quaranteed shooter, for not a heck of alot more than what the factory barrels are going for nowadays.

Good luck

Dave

I've had excellent luck with accuracy. I have guns that shoot tighter, but not by much. My duce will shoot 3" off sticks sitting on my butt at 200yds... that's saying alot for the gun, believe me!

204 I personally can't say I've got to shoot one yet in .22lr but a buddy of mine originally bought three barrels in the caliber planning on selling them to turn a buck. He sold one and kept two because he loves plinking and punching paper with them all the time. Claims they both will drive tacks

An Encore in 204 is pretty much all I carry. I've shot coyotes out to around 400 yards with it, but it certainly works better at significantly shorter yardage. If you reload, go with the 35 grain Berger hollow points or the 34 grain softpoints from Midway or one of the other big suppliers. They work better, IMHO.

I have shot them since they first came out.I use Match Grade Machine company barrels and they are quite accurate.Just got a new barrel in 6 mm rem.

Probably going to go to the local gunshop tonight and talk about ordering one. I'm thinking about going with SS frame and everthing else Camo, unless i order my barrels through MGM then they'll be SS Fluted. will post pictures when its all said and done

I currently have 22 hornet, 22-250, 7mm08, 20 ga, and 209x50 cal barrels for my SS Encore frame with realtree camo. A 22 LR would round it out pretty well I'm thinking. All the calibers listed shoot very well and I really like everything about my Encore!

most folks have good luck with MGM, bullberry, not so much, great barrels but poor communication and cant keep a deadline to save their lives. Mine were 5mos overdue, and LOTS of excuses.

I’ve posted this before but here it is again. As a southpaw the Encore is ideal and so far no coyote has complained. I have two barrels 244 AI & 257 AI both were made by SSK Industries. My receiver has had a trigger job and I also us the Bellm 1x hinge pin.
Both are excellent shooters. Here’s a few pic’s of what is possible with some range and reloading bench time.

before you order your Encore I need to tell you If your ever going to consider making it a part time Pistol, then you must buy it as a pistol first. Feds say ou can make a pistol into a rifle, but you can't make a rifle into a pistol.
