ENCORE!!!

Yeah I've read quite a bit lately about that, I went to the gun shop the other night and I was priced a Pro hunter in 209x.50 for close to a grand

Really didnt feel that was a very good deal considering i can go buy one from cabelas for right around 750$ I really dont need a new gun because I'm going to be completely rebuilding it anyways. Does anybody have any suggestions as far as just finding a Frame with or without stock and forearm to buy or trade for???

Find a used Encore pistol frame for sale and you can but any barrel length on it. If you have so interest in pistol barrels just buy a rifle frame.

Hoggy

Guys- for what its worth, I know a guy thats been talking about selling his 220 swift barrel. Its got a 2X10 aetec scope on it. anyone interested pm me.

Hey thanks there seems to be some real good deals on there. Im really debating between the .204 or another 250. Dont get me wrong I love the .22 250 as a caliber but where im at if you have the opportunity to make a 300 yard shot its either because you own the land and have cleared it or you're at the range. plus id like to have a .22lr in a 14 barrel for my coon hunting gun. I really think itd be pretty fun to drop a few coon out with, not to mention the lighter load id have to carry

I don't use mine for a predator rifle. I got one about five years ago when I decided to take up ML hunting. I got a .50 calX209 ML barrel with a 1-4 Leupie and, just for fun a .25-06 AI barrel with a 3.5-10 Leupie. Then I figured, I'd never had a dedicated turkey gun, so I got the camo'd 24 inch, 12 ga. 3" turkey barrel with the extended choke and rifle sights. The ML barrel shoots light out, and I've killed a deer a year with it since I got it. The .25-06AI barrel has killed some deer for me plus a 400 yard one shot kill on a caribou. The turkey barrel has been great, smacks down gobblers further than anything I've ever used for the purpose. The only problem is, 2 ounce 3" turkey loads are quite uncomfortable to shoot, the trigger guard is rough on my finger. I put a Mike Bellm oversize hinge pin in mine, and if you're interested in top accuracy in an Encore I'd recommend you visit his website.

I've had some "quality" bench time with my Pro-Hunter in 6br.(26" T/C barrel) Aboslute (and I mean ABSOLUTE)tack driver. So far it seems to realy favor 29.5gr of Varget pushing an 87gr Hornady BTHP or 33gr's of BL-C2 in back of a 75gr Hornady HP. Actually I haven't found anything I've done at the bench so far this gun won't shoot inside 1". My partner put together his Pro-Hunter in 204 & is having equal success at the bench. We really jumped on the rebates T/C was offering thru 12/31/09. Got our barrels at Midway on sale with an additional 50.00 back from T/C. The 6BR barrel & 204 barrel, both 26" stainless only ran us 225.00ish when it was all said & done.
I've yet to get it out hunting dogs yet..but I'm 100% confident it can perform as well, if not better then any of my bolt guns. It's sister gun, a Pro-Hunter Endeavor has taken two 'yote during this years deer season. One at 90yds & one at 158yds. Already have my 3rd Encore in the making in 257 roberts....good luck with your purchase & keep us posted.

Has anybody had any luck with shooting factory .204 loads through their guns???? My Father and I do reload but that really wouldnt be able to take place until the weather decides to take a turn for the weather. (single digits and below zero here in NW Ohio) I keep hearing that people are having a hard time stabilizing their heavy bullets, but if I order a custom barrel a faster twist should help me out maybe a 1-10

WSMBUCK.... Let us know how that thing shoots when it gets here. The 220 swift is my favorite caliber, you can pound some dogs with authority and I personally think it is one of the most accurate calibers. It is an old school case design but it works like a house of fire. That is probably going to be my next encore barrel. Where did you buy it from?

Well all i can say is WOW the 220 with stack them hole for hole at 100 yds if i do my part. I will be bringing it to New Mexico in a week or so to try out on some fur. Will keep everyone updated.

I have a pro hunter in 22-250 that shoots extremely well, but I didn't get the straight out of the box accuracy that some have with their encores. After cutting the barrel to 22 inches, and a trigger job and oversized pin and a few more other tricks mine is extremely accurate. It will shoot as good or better than anything that else I own.

WOULD U MIND SHARING SOME OF THOSE TRICKS, I HAVE A 223 BARREL THATS STILL IN THE BOX SITTING IN MY SAFE BEEN THERE 3 OR 4 YEARS. I MOSTLY SHOOT MY CZ 204. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ANY TIPS ON ACCURIZING YOUR ENCORE. I HAVE A MUZZLE LOADER BARREL AN 25.06 BARREL THAT I DEER HUNT WITH FOR IT. JUST HAVENT GOT AROUND TO TRYING OUT THE 223 YET.

I will say my 223 barrel with nothing done to my Encore that wasn't done at the fractory is a shooter. Shoots better than I can make it shoot paper. So just go out and shoot it.

t/c223encore.

cattrapper1 like I said mine has the trigger pull lightened and the 1x oversized Bellm hinge pin, but in addition to that I removed the forearm and took a dremel tool and carefully free floated the forearm so that it only made contact at the screws and nowhere else. Also at the end of the forearm where the ears run over the action I removed enough there also with the dremel so there is no contact. When all this was complete I took some small rubber o-rings and slid them on top of the forearm screws and tightened everything back down so when it is all done the only contact is at the screws. The only other thing I have done was to replace the factory barrel lug locking spring with one that is quite a bit stouter from Bellm and know mine closes up tight with no play. Hope this helps good luck.
