EOTech Alternatives

Hey fellas, Merry Christmas to ALL!!

Im finding myself liking the EOTech holo sights more and more. and once i saw the flip-out-o-the-way magnifier i was sold. except i cannot justify spending 1200+ bucks on just a sight. I know optics are not the place to skimp but that is just tooo much for a sight. it is just too much. Soooo my question is, Are there any other similar sights that wont sting my wallet as badly?

Thanks!

HCS

After just spending a week hunting with EOtech optics and a couple of guys from EOTech I'm sold on a great product and great guys.

i know you get what you pay for but i guess i just dont need all that. im not going to be underwater. i dont think i will be in millions of degrees above or below 0. I prolly dont need shock proofing of that magnitude, if i ever bang my gun that hard ill be more worried about where I will be landing, because ill prolly be falling off a cliff. pretty sure i wont be on a stand for 1000 hours, and i can pack extra batteies. and i like to think of myself as a strong boy that can pack a few extra oz on the top of my rig...

I know that everything has its place, just dont need THAT much in my place.

are there any other Holo sights or reddots with magnifiers that will work for just shooting, with out spending mor than my gun costs?

The Holosight Bushnell sells is made by EOTech, they just omitted the top protective cover and cut the cost about $100. Not sure why you would want the magnifier, I don't think it's needed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
I have an EOTech and it's deadly out to about 150 yards on coyote-sized targets. If you're going to be sniping them at 350 yards or so, you need a good scope, not an EOTech+magnifier. That setup would be nice if the government was paying for it, though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Take a look at this, it gets good reviews and isn't going to bankrupt you:

Millett DMS-1 1-4X

hardcore,
The first option to the eotech is the Bushnell halosight that is already mentioned.
I have one of these ( http://www.atncorp.com/DayOptics/ReflexSights/ATNUltraSight ) on a handgun and really like it. I have been thinking about putting it on a rifle, just to try out. I've also thought of putting it on a shotgun for night hunting, although I've never taken it out at night yet to see if the lowest setting is low enough.
Check it out.

Thanks fellas for the input.
What im lookin for i guess dosent have to be JUST like the EOTech(should have said that earlier) i was just lookin for a good holo sight to put on my ar. my scope is good but i would really like something quicker. EOTech with the magnifyer was just an example of what i would like. i like the magnifier because apparently my eyes suck. i have a hard time seeing at distance and like being able to see well through a sight. I guess im just not as skilled of shooter as i need to be /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I have the EOTECH 512 and absolutely love it it was $400.00 and the magnifer is about that also so that would be 800.00. I dont have the magnifer but the other eotechs are night vision compatible that makes the cost more and I dont see a need for this option unless you are SPECIAL FORCES !

aim surplus has EO tech 512's for 399, i understand you completely about the no need to military grade equipment when you are just merely a pawn in the game of chess... but 399 isnt much to spend on an optic in reality, and i think you would be much happier with it, and im not saying this because i have an eo tech cuz i dont, im saying this because i bought a cheaper 40.00 single piece scope mount, and a $150 konus scope to top off my nice RRA ar 15, finally i got really discusted with seeing my nice carbine outfitted with sub par equipment, since then ive aquired a larue mount, im getting a Nikon scope to top it (which isnt super high grade but lets face it, its [beeep] good optics for hunting hands down), and a surefire quadrail, arms 40l BUIS, larue bipod mount and a harris bipod. and im much happeier because its what the gun deserves lol... kind of dumb i know but you get it. so my suggestion is save up 1 or 2 extra weeks get the EO tech (you know you want it so get it) dont waste your money on the low end bargain stuff, because if you want the better stuff, youll end up with it sooner or later and have wasted the money on the other stuff... get the EO tech.

sorry for the rant and also im not by any means saying the things i have on my rifle are superb, but they are very good quality in MY eyes.

thanks
adam

Okay, you probably don't want an EOTech. It doesn't have any method of compensating for vision problems like a scope offers.
That Millett 1-4 scope does, though, and it's half the price of an EOTech. You might ask if anyone is using it in "Firearms and Reloading", just to make sure it would work for you.
It looks like a pretty nice option, to me, and the reticle with 1 MOA dot is very similar to an EOTech, plus you get the focus feature.
(I'm almost talking myself into buying one). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've never owned a Millett scope, I hope I'm not steering you wrong. The concept is excellent, hopefully the optics are decent and it doesn't fall apart on you.

Leupold makes something very similar (1-3X) for $880.
Optic Zone Mark 4 CQ

Trijicon Accupoints are similar for $500
AccuPoint 1.25-4x24

Good luck on your choice.

Did you see the announcement regarding Millett optics being sold to Bushnell?

Evil - you got me interested in that Millett too, so I started looking...

I'm not clear on what this acquisition means for the particular scope you mentioned.

No I didn't, and I'm not sure what it would mean regarding quality. It might mean that the Optic Zone will start carrying them, though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If Millett's optical quality is decent, that would be a very nice AR option for close action. I may end up with one in the future myself.
