EoTech on AR

I'm getting real close to buying an EoTech 512 to mount on my AR. For those of you that have this set up, can you make suggestions for the mount? I have a carry handle. Tonlocus, I've seen your set up, and don't think I want to go that route. I don't plan to have anything but the EoTech on there.
Thanks in advance.

I believe they make an off set mount that attaches to the handle and would mount the Eotec between the front and rear shight . Using the EOtech in conjunction with your open sights.

Yeah, Thats what I was talking about.

Whats with this Mr. crap? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That's the beauty of the GG&G forend. You can mount it anywhere you want to. It's also the easiest way to freefloat your barrel. And since you're in Texas, you can mount a nice surefire on it for night hunting too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

As you probably already know a Flat top upper is the ideal set up. For just over $100.00 you can have yours converted to a flat top upper. I've done this for a number of guys.

I have considered the flat top, but I'm not ready to drop any more change right now. However, I didn't know it was that cheap to do it. Come to think of it, I do remember seeing a "bare" upper some where for about $129.
I think the co-witness mount is what I was curious about. I wasn't sure if that was the best way to go, but sounds like it probably is.

You'll have to find one that drops it down low enough to see through. Some call them a "Z" mount. I seen some that don't drop it down enough to still use your iron sights. If you can find one in a shop to try out that would be good before you order it. Good luck.

A friend of mine on another board uses the Eotech on his AR carbine.

It is a slick rig for coyote hunting, in some respects the EO is better than a conventional scope.

I have a custom built D-tech upper. And I'm currently torn between getting a Leupold VX-III or a Eotech. I would like both but just can't afford it right now althought tonlocus has one of the sweetest setup around when it comes to having both.

My question is: With a custom and very accurate upper like the one from D-tech is it worth putting the eotech on as the only site with exception of the irons?

This is a Rock River mount attached to a EOTECH 552. It co-witnesses in the lower 1/3 of the reticle. If you want to attach it to an A2, ARMS makes a mount that will allow you to do something similar.

Personally, I would ditch the A2 and mount a flat top. There are many more options for backup iron sights. You could sell your A2 upper on gunbroker and probably recover some of the cost to convert to a flat top upper. If you are in the El Paso area I could do the swap in about ten minutes.

This mount and optic are now on another upper I built last night but don't have pics for yet.
