Eotech X320?

I'm thinking really hard about buying a thermal for scanning. With my budget, I've narrowed it down to two choices, either the Flir PS32 or the L-3 Eotech X320.
The Eotech is available at 30hz, compared to 9hz for the Flir.
Lots of comments here on the Flir, but almost nothing on the Eotech. Anyone here have experience with the Eotech?
I really can't afford to screw this one up. Any knowledgeable help is appreciated.

Rent both and see.. the cost of one of the rentals will come off the sale price. I'm renting the x320 soon..

Might also consider the Pulsar HD38s or HD19s. Some real nice videos from those floating around.

I talked to a guy from TNvc.com who recommended the Eotech x320 over the PS monoculars. However, never really heard from anyone who has actually used one. Would like to here from someone who has had their hands on one in the field.

Yeah, Chip at TNvc recommended the x320 to me over the ps32 also. I'm just wondering why there doesn't seem to be very many people who are using the Eotech. As far as I know Eotech has an good reputation as a company that builds quality products and will stand behind it's products. Flir also has a good reputation.
Shopping around I have found that the Eotech can be had for about about $200.00 more than the ps32.
Apples to apples, the Eotech seems to offer more features than the Flir.
Eotech x320 Vs FLIR ps32
Refresh rate - 30hz vs - 9hz
Zoom - 2x, 3x, 4x vs - 2x
Resolution - 320x240 vs - 320x240 (same)
Lens - 25mm vs - 19mm
Batteries - 2 AA user replaceable vs - Internal

I am certainly no expert with the experience of SkyPup or Gman but I can say that I've spent several hours looking through a friend's new (to him) PS32 and I am VERY much hooked on all the color pallets and the InstAlert system is critical for ease of spotting.

I quickly learned in a several hour period that, although you may now think that it will be lots of fun scanning for hogs, coyotes, coons or whatever kinds of predator/varmints you're hunting, you'll quickly find that it can be tiring and your attention quickly fades.

The InstAlert color pallet makes it very easy to spot a warm blooded creature from the surroundings and reduces that eye and mental fatigue the hunter suffers from hours of scanning. That bright red of a warm blooded creature just JUMPS out at you even in HEAVY brush and then you can either switch to the black hot or white hot pallet for clearer ID or go to the Gen 3 or equivalent NV scope for a more positive ID and the shot....

If a competing unit didn't have an InstAlert system or one very similar to or better than the InstAlert I wouldn't even consider it.

When you're spending hours and hours scanning for game your memory of what you paid for your infrared device quickly fades and the quality and usability of a Flir PS32 or even an RS32x35 (the one I want) is more easily understood and appreciated.

Life's too short to be miserable for hours in a stand or moving around with hard to use or enjoy infrared equipment.

There are times you can get by with a cheap device when you hunt and there are times when only the best is adequate... Buying infrared scanners and or scopes is IMO one of those times.

OK... I just read the TNVC site specs on the Eotech X320 and it has color pallets that compete directly with the Flir so I'm thinking we need a heads up YouTube comparison of the two... Victor?

I have quite a bit of experience with the X320. Very good quality and easy to use. Realistically I would say I could verify what animal it was at around 400 yards. You could detect heat MUCH further than that, but you would have to move in closer to determine the animal. With a little practice you can tell pretty quick the difference in a deer and a cow. With a set of Lithium batteries we were getting approx 4-6 hours of continuous run time with the unit.

That is an estimate. That is one of the downfalls of thermal for me. Judging distance...And that is the difference in a hog and deer. Mainly because the deer raise their heads. That helped us a lot in not making long stalks on what turned out to be deer. The ranch I was hunting was target rich so we got a lot of practice in.

I've been stuck on FLIR products. They've served me well during my hunts. Is there video demonstrating x320? I've read some good reviews, but no vids yet

There are a few videos of the X320 available, but not much. Foxpro Furtakers featured the Eotech on one of their shows, I THINK that it was a Maryland show, but I watched/deleted it so I can't be 100% sure.
I fretted between the Eotech and FLIR for a couple of weeks, taking into account user reviews, length of time in service, features, customer service reputation, price, and warranty.
I ended up purchasing the Flir PS32, scheduled delivery 10/08/14.

I was determined to see at least SOMETHING about the X320 so I went to YouTube and searched for "Eotech X320" and found several videos but most were of it's debut at Shot Show which is usually mostly hype.

Note that the X320 does have a video out port!!! Another very good feature is that it uses AA batteries so you can get almost unlimited field use out of it without being chained to a 110v or 12v outlet.

Here is what I found that might be useful but no comparisons to anything from Flir.

This is a good video but the guy didn't have a video out cable so he used an iPhone.

This is a great comparison to some other NV and Thermal equipment from our own Texas Lawman.

That's literally all I found on YouTube with a quick search. I'm still hoping someone from TNVC will come up with a comparison.

Thanks for posting those references LDHunter. Makes me wish I had an X320 instead of my Flir. I like the higher refresh rate and the ability to increase the zoom. Zoom doesn't always help that much, but there are times when it helps with id. I use the 2x in my ps32 a lot. I am spoiled having a thermal scanner. It sure makes a difference.
