Working on an putting a tactical Ar together and topping it off with an Eotech 512 for predator calling. Does anyone else use this sight, how does it work? what is your effective range? just curious. Thanks

I have a least two customers using that sight on their AR for predator hunting. I don't know what the use as their effective range but I know they are happy with the sight.

Love it. Effective range depends on how good your eyesight is and how far forward on your rifle you have it mounted. 100 yards is the max for me, but I've got pretty crappy eyesight.

I have a 511 and a 552. They are very good sights, and you won't be disappointed with getting a 512. The 511 and 512 both use two "N" cells for power. The smaller 1 minute dot makes aiming easier than using a basic red dot sight with it's very large dot. I have the 511 mounted on an all black Ruger 10-22 and it makes a neat set up for plinking and cat shooting...LOL

I own a Bushnell Holosight ...... a knock off of the Eotech.

I love it as well!

Mine is the 1 MOA dot all by itself. Right now its on a rifle (742 Rem .30-06). When I started sighting it in ....... a 1.5" group was no problem at 100 yds.

I think that 200 yds is quite feasible even for 'otes.

For handguns (thats where my holosight is most of the time) I wish mine had the standard reticle (circle and dot) like the Eotech. The reticle would be faster to find in the window. When this sight is on my Ruger Redhawk (.44) I can regularily hit golf balls at 35 yds. (with an improvised rest).

Some tips with the holographic sights: Shoot with both eyes open if you can.

Also, whether you shoot with both eyes open or one shut (or both shut like me, ha ha!) shoot the same way always.

If you switch ways it will affect your zero!

I find that I shoot best for precision with the least amount of brightness on the dot that I can still see clearly. Overly bright settings cause to much flaring and distraction.

Only problem I have with mine is I cant see the circle or dot on bright days with snowcover.

Took a bird with it at 50yds with my Browning Buckmark while my buddies were steading thier scoped rifles. Real quick to pick up a target.
