ER Shaw barrels feedback

I have two or three, and have had around 6. Everyone cleaned and shot better than the factory barrels they were replacing. If you are building a hunting rig they are more than good enough. If you are building a benchrest match rig, there are better options.

As for customer support, I have never had a problem.

What problems you hear about from "someone"?

My observation has been that most folks who actually own em tend to like em. Those who don't own em, just regergitate what they've heard on the internet.

The only one I have personal experience with was on an old Herters (BSA) that an old friend of mine had rebarreled so he could pass it on to his grandson. His shoulders and eyesight are toast, so I sighted it in and did some break-in for him. It shot suprisingly well and cleaned up fine after a few rounds.
As stated above, "They're not match-grade barrels" but then they don't cost like one either. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for a hunting rig.

JMO,,, YMMV,,, etc,, etc...

As for customer support, I have never had a problem. ER Shaw is just a house brand of Midway. They are over-run or contract barrels from various barrel makers as far as I have read/heard.

ER Shaw is an actual co. near Pittsburgh PA. I think the Midway house brand you're thinking of is Adams & Bennett (A&B) Barrels?? ER Shaw may make A & B barrels for Midway??

The barrel on my Bison Armory 6.8 SPC was made by Shaw. It shoots better than I can. I have no issues at all with mine, and have always heard great reviews from others who have them. I also believe Wilson Combat uses E.R. Shaw barrels on their 6.8 rifles.

There ya go, that's what it was. Now with my memory jogged I believe A&B barrels are primarily ER Shaw's. Got my wires crossed there, apologize for the mis-information.

Ya the guy I talked to said he has has three of them, but he is shooting benchrest. I am getting a 22-250 ai for a hunting rig so it don't have to be a 1 hole shooter but i'd like it to be close to it. It should be here in a couple of weeks and I talked to him this morning and starting getting worried.

Yotesmoker,
I have several friends who have put ER Shaw barrels on their hunting rifles and love 'em. Having said that, I shoot Benchrest style shooting and am an accuracy freak. There is no way in H E L L an ER Shaw barrel belongs on any Benchrest Rifle if the shooter is serious about competition or ultimate accuracy. Thats where companies like Shilen, Hart, Lijia and others come in and produce a "Match Grade" barrel for Benchrest shooting. Keep in mind, those barrels start at around $300 and go up from there. For what Shaw barrels are supposed to do, they are great for the money and I'd put one on any of my hunting rifles in a heartbeat.

I live about 20 minutes from there shop. They make pretty good barrels. Everyone that i have talked to says they really like them. At my shop we are actually stocking their custom rifles. I just bought a Winchester rebarreled in a 280 and it shoots great so far with factory ammo. I wouldnt hesitate to put one on any of my guns.

I have had ER Shaw in the past and they were hit or miss in the accuracy department. The final straw for me was the [beeep] they tried to pull when they said they own the pattent on spiral fluting so no other manufacturer could spiral flute. Pretty chicken [beeep] in my book I will never order or buy one again. Brux or Rock creek for me from here on out. Alot better barrels out there for not that much more.

I have a Shaw barrel on my 22-250 AI and it shoots great. Best $82 barrel I ever bought. Midway was sellin 'em cheap and I bought one for a replacement pd rig on an old Savage 110. It is a shooter.

Well I guess in a couple of weeks I'll know what this ones going to to. I sure hope it's good, I know everything has atleast one bad product from time to time.

Funny how that works. I think most of my rifles shoot better than I can!

I hear nothing but good about ER Shaw's products. I had an itch to buy one a while ago (never did because I didnt want to wait 8-9months, but thats another story) and started looking on gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com and never saw any for sale. To me that means 1 of 2 things: 1) nobody wants to sell their ER Shaw rifle because it is awesome. Or 2) nobody sells them because they blew up on the first shot. But I tend to think it is mainly reason 1. So that tells me that they must make quality products at an affordable price. Just my thoughts though...

I have one in .221 Fireball on a Savage 12 action, an AR-15 with a Model 1 upper in .223 Rem, and my .223 AI on a Savage 112 action that I am holding in my avatar that I used to take a prairie dog at 705 yards with last summer. ALL of my guns that wear ER Shaw barrels are half inch at 100 yard shooters. I think that they are the rifle barrel equivalent of a Bushnell 4200 scope myself.

I spent a whole lot more for a Krieger barrel that only shoots a little bit better than one of my Shaw barrels can. For my money an ER Shaw barrel is mighty tough to beat.

I have one that I chamberred in 6mm-204 and it is a great shooter. Put a A&B 250-3000 barrel on a Savage and it shoot good only when we cut it to 20"the bore is slightly off center but still shoots ok.

AWS

I've got a 17 mach 2 barrel made by ER Shaw. Put it on my 10/22. Everything I've read about the .17's, says it's an accurate little round. Not out of this Shaw barrel. My 10/22T HB it replaced, would hold tighter groups with .22 LR.
