I stopped by my buds office today to show him my new savage 22-250. He told me to hold that he had a gun he wanted to show me. So he goes into his safe and pulls a lever action Marlin in 219 zipper.

I thought I knew every caliber known the man. He also has about 50 boxes of the old style yellow box Winchester bullets.

Have any you ever shot one of these? Looks like it will be a flat shooter??

I've never heard of a 219 swift, but I have heard of the 219 zipper. It came out in the late 1930's and was quite a varmint round back then. It's a necked down 25-35 WCF to 22 caliber.
Are you sure it wasn't the 219 Zipper?

It is a zipper I edited the post sorry. No my buddy doesnt want to shoot it. He says he has retired it. I dont quite get retiring a gun. But like they say to each his own.

My dad had one when I was a kid. It was a single shot with a rolling block. It had a huge bull barrel and stock that was at least twice the size of most guns and it was HEAVY. I bet it weighed close to 15 pounds. It didn't have sights nor was it drilled and tapped for a scope so we never used it for anything. Besides we only had 3 shells for it. I got to shoot one of them, but with no sights, I missed the target. He ended up trading it to someone for some reloaded ammo which he never received. But I don't think he cared. We had no use for a bench gun.

Cases are formed from 30-30 Win brass, pretty nice but the 219DW was better. The 219DW had the 30* shoulder and the Zipper has that sloping 15* shoulder. Sucker for the 219DW. Adam
