And the "old" things that they are unfamiliar with, isn't limited to politics & history.
It also pertains to what was Pop Culture in the past.
Recently, I asked my 3 adult 20-something sons, about a few pop culture things from before their time.
Such as......
...Who were Spencer Tracy, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart? {Not one of them even knew who these men were?
...I asked them what band was "responsible" for the "British Invasion". {Responses were: "British Invasion? Huh?"; "the Monkeys"; and, "the BeeGees"}
...Asked who sang "Heartbreak Hotel". {Only my oldest knew the right answer.}
...I asked "What TV show gave Farrah Fawcett her big break?" (Unanimous reply was, "Who's Farrah Fawcett?")
...I asked, "In which year did we land on the moon?", and "who landed on the moon first, the USA, France, China, or the USSR?". {Answers were: "1974"; "1961"; and "I don't know."} Then: "China"; "What's the USSR? Must've been them."; and "France".}
I had intended to ask 5 more questions, but with the answers I had already received, I just couldn't bear to ask any more.
