External speakers and battery life

I picked up a Wildfire to keep in my pack during big game season. It's nice to do a little calling on the way back to the truck after an unsuccessful hunt. So much so that it's been riding around with me pretty much non stop. Got a truck gun, might as well have a truck caller. Now that big game is over, I'm focusing on predators more. I'm thinking of adding an sp55 speaker to reach into the timber a bit further. I was just wondering how much faster the batteries will die. I assume that twice the sound will kill batteries twice as fast. What have you guys found out in the field?

Wildfire and SP55 is a good combination. I also had a FoxJack2 hooked up to mine. IMO that combination did use the batteries up quicker than just using the Wildfire.

Overall it was worth the extra battery usage. You get the extra volume from the SP55. The extra speaker also gives you the ability to direct sound in two directions and you have a good attached decoy.

A lot depends on how long and how loud you call. I have never run my battery supply down in a normal day of hunting. Some guys run the ecaller continuously on each stand for 15 or 20 minutes on high volume. They will run down their batteries much quicker. Not trying to evade your question but it will vary with the user.

When I bought my first Foxpro e-caller a FX5, I also bought a SP-55 Speaker and a Foxpro 12 volt gel cell battery.

I always use the external SP-55 Speaker on every stand along with my CS-24 or my Fury and the 12 volt battery has never let me down.

The Foxpro e-callers are also much louder when using the 12 volt battery.

My real concern was it took you so long to post after your uncle Al did. That's not like you. What's the deal?

No worries about the Broncs. They'll be fine.
