My friends first and only bobcat was shot in the eye with a 22lr. He never could see the cat. He just shot where I told him it was. Lucky SOB. Sorry, no pics...I know, it didn't happen.

Yep… this was a downhill shot facing me. He must have dropped his head right as the trigger broke. Was aiming between the shoulders, and it dropped like a sack of potatoes at the shot. When I grabbed an ear to take a look his head was pretty crunchy sounding. 204R 40 gr NBT to the eye. No exit… Skull mush!

I have done a few of those in the “red light” days that were too ugly to take pics of. Though one with the 22.250 entered about 1” from its lt eye and did not exit.

My favorite day time spot and stalk shot on coyote/fox, the head. With the 22-250 if I keep the shot under 225 yards the Nos 55 BT stays in skull, usually both eyes pop out. 17 rem on fox the Ber 25 mef stays in nicely. The Hornady 25 hp, will split between the ears, but that repair is pretty easy sew. Between the eyes is easy on fox as they are much easier to approach from downwind. Coyote much tougher to get downwind(in row crop ground), squared up between the eyes. Side wind between the ear and the eye is a much easier stalk. Some of the light sleepers, stalked from behind playing a steady wind just off to the side.

I shot 3 through the eyeball in one season back in 2020.

Weirdest one was one I called in, in less than 20 seconds and all I could see was its head. I shot and couldn't find a bullet hole. As I carried it back to the truck I saw blood coming out of its nose so I got back and looked a little closer. I had shot that coyote straight up one of its nostrils.

Several years ago, my hunting partner and I were calling an intersection of two 2 tracks. The roads formed more of an x than a +, we sat back to back and a coyote came out in one of his roads a couple hundred yards away, coming to the call in coyote "road gear". He said, "coyote" and I turned around and watched through my binoculars. Coyote kept coming: I could see his tongue hanging out as he ran towards us. Couldn't get him to stop and somewhere around 100 yards my friend took the shot (30-06 w/150 gr. SP) and coyote went down like a ton of bricks.

When we looked for a bullet hole, there was none.......entry or exit, no blood, nothing. We didn't do a necropsy, but only thing we could figure was the bullet entered the coyotes open mouth and hit spine lengthwise preventing any exit.
