Factory load for 243

Look into Hornady V-max or Federal Nosler ballistic tips. Go to: http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/
Click on: ammunition.
Click on: centerfire rifle.
Click on: .243 Winchester.
Click on: Varmint.
Buy a box of each and see which one your rifle likes best. Sorry for the drawn out directions. The address wouldn't fit. Don't worry about shopping for the best price. It has been done for you. Happy hunting.

I shoot the Remington 100-grain corelokts thru my savage. They tear up the yotes, but then again that is going to happen with most any .243 bullet. They shoot about 1/2" at 100 yards and are fairly cheap as well.

If I shoot factory loads, myself along with several other guys here shoot the Remington 75 grain Accutip (V-Max) in the Premier Varmint series. Federal Premium loads from 70 - 85 grains should also perform well.

wjh131; Without knowing what stores your close to and if you want to shoot premium or cheaper shelf ammo -
On the premium side the Federal 85 grain game-kings are quite accurate. On the economy side PMC or Remington loads 100 grain sp's that will slam a yote, nuttin to talk about.

Try the Remington Express 80 grain Powerlokt HP loads.

That particular bullet/ load from Remington in the 222 50 grain version preforms really really well in my 222.

I shot the first head of game in my life with a 243 today. Not first animal just first with this caliber.
A Blacktail Spike maybe a 100 lbs on the hoof.
Laying in his bed looking at me,about 200 yards, federal cheap stuff, 80 grain soft point.
All I could see was head and neck. Shot him just under the chin, flipped him completely over backwards.
Yup Id say the 243 works good.

For deer I am using the Winchester Super X Power Point 100 grain. This gun will will shoot moa with both this bullet and Remington 100gr corlok. The Winnies just are better past 200 yards. Yotes and such Super X PP 80 grain. This bullet I can hit a 4 inch disc at 300 yard 4 out of 6 from the bench. This is a new gun and first season with it. HH CG

Hello,

I have shot several coyotes and few cats with the Federal Premium 70gr ballistic tip. Never had a problem. This is the only ammo i have shot out of the 243 for varmints. Shoot 22-250 most of the time.
Later,

Federal 85grn. Game King BTHP. I get excellent
accuracy out of the Savage, and exits on body shots about the size of a half-dollar. The Federal is loaded a little hotter than the others. The Rem 75grn. works well too. None are fur friendly tho---
