a fawn distress call will attract coyotes, right? will it also attract a doe because it wants to protect its fawn? just wondering if it will scare deer away while im deer hunting but i see or hear coyotes.

Had some really good experience with the Fawn Distress on the FX5 this summer.

In July we were hunting on a ranch loaded with Muleys and we were using the Whitetail Fawn and called in several Muley does to investigate and they stuck around for a while and came back every time to check it out.

We also had a similar experience with a whitetail doe in Canada while using some what of a fawn bawl.

In both cases we also killed coyotes.

Have had mule deer come in bounding as fast as they could many times.
Even had elk come out of the timber once.Elk did not come in but would trot my direction a ways stop an look then go back.

Last week I called in 2 does and a fawn, with fawn bawls. I believe they would have came in real close, if I didn't have my decoy out. A couple years back the same thing with a couple does and fawns. Called them in within 5 yards and one of them was looking to give me a good stomping. Pretty interesting experience.

When using distress calls while deer hunting for bucks, the single most useful reaction I've had is that whitetail and blacktail bucks will stand up from where they were lying unseen in brush, and stare at me. Some whitetails run away. Blacktails tend to get on a vantage spot and look at the sound. Non distress deer sounds will attract bucks however, as well as predators. I've killed mule deer and blacktail bucks by using them.

As seen by many posters, mule deer does come in to distress sounds variously labeled fawn, jackrabbit, cub bawl, etc. as do blacktail does and sometimes whitetail. That isn't much use in most buck seasons.

Go out in the woods and experiment, and see what animals do when you call.
