fawn distress

howlNmad,
I like to use a fawn bleat or distress all year long. I don't know if coyotes realize when fawns drop, but I have had coyotes respond even in the winter months. One thing to be aware of: Deer will also come in, sometimes real close (10 feet), at times snorting and pawing the ground. One day this fall, while the fawn in distress was playing on the e/caller, three nice bucks (two ten's and an eight pointer) came in. They did the pawing and snorting thing and then laid down within 30 yards of my set. I guess they thought I was a fawn that needed to be protected.

howlNmad,

I have had very good luck using the fawn bleat especially when using a fawn decoy. The coyotes will come in and stop and when they see the fawn decoy, here they come.

I agree with coyotehunter, I too have had luck using the fawn or doe bleat call. They have called in coyotes, bear, deer(buck & doe)also, other hunters, so, please be careful. They do work! I use mouth calls, and call for as long as I can, then stop for five minutes or so, and call again.Give it a try, you'll be surprised.Good Luck!

One of my favorite calls. I like the Knight & Hale fawn bleat. Beware the reed sometimes sticks so I keep 2 handy. Imitate frantic cries and small lung capacity.
