Federal Heavyweight Coyote

I was at my local gunshop, they know I hunt coyotes. They had 8 boxes of Federal Heavyweight Coyote 12 gauge 3 inch 1 1/2 oz BB shot. The boxes had a $27.99 tag on them, they asked if I were interested in them for $10.00 a box. So I bought all 8 boxes. Right now I only have a Beretta 1301 tactical, so I figure with its cylinder bore they wont give me much use. But I do plan on buying a shotgun for coyotes. My main question, when these were in production did anyone have good results with them. Or bad results.

The Federal Heavyweight Coyote BB 3" 1-1/2 oz loads are good loads. They are 15g/cc, about 35% denser than lead.

Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote "T" shot loads are 12g/cc about 10% denser than lead.

The Federal Heavyweight BB loads have 62 pellets per shell, Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote loads only have 50 pellets per shell. I would rather shoot a coyote load with 62 bad a$$ pellets in it than a coyote load with 50 bad a$$ pellets in it.

From KPY Shotshell Ballistic Program

1300 fps lead BB shot gets 3.70" of gel penetration at 46.1 yards
1300 fps Federal HWT BB shot gets 3.70" of gel penetration at 115.5 yards
1300 fps Hevi-Shot DC "T" shot gets 3.70" of gel penetration at 85 yards

The discontinued Federal Heavyweight #2 shot waterfowl loads I like even better for coyotes because of the much higher pellet count. If you ever find a good deal on any of these FHW #2 waterfowl loads buy them.

You got a great buy on those loads. I bought about 20 boxes of them from Midway USA when they had them on sale for $15.00 per box.

Thank you for all the info on the load. I will keep a lookout for the waterfowl loads. You never know what you'll find at the smaller gun shops.
