Went to the annual Alpena, MI gun show- for the first time ever.

Advertised as a gun/knife show I paid 9 dollars to get in. what did I see. a total of 6 guns - yes that right 6 guns total in the entire show. But gee whiz there were A LOT of campers, boats, and tshirts (not even gun related t shirts).

Oh there were 4 wheelers too.

What a ripoff - why didn't they call it a boat show?

Cause they wouldn't have got your $9 if they did.

ps...been there done that too. Went to the National Sportsmans Expo in Denver........total flop, unless you wanted to book an african hunt or canadian hunt.

You've just make me feel a little bit better about the Guns Shows around here but most of the shows here make a guy feel ripped off too. Unless you want something other than guns--jewelery, rusted parts, reloaded ammo in factory boxes

Most gun shows here have more than 6..... but alot less than they use to have. Seeing more and more airsoft (rubber BB)guns, cheap chinese knifes. Stuff to clean your glasses. Beanie babys. Army surplus stuff and other crap. Just be glad your gun show still only costs 9 dollars. Ours have gone up to 12-13 dollars plus 3 dollars parking. Most of the good deals are between dealers before the show opens.

Maybe it's just a continuation of the whole world changing. I don't want to sound old but I can remember when a gun store had almost all their rifles in front of the counter not behind. I could walk up and down the isles of rifles, picking them up and shouldering them to study for fit and weight. Now a days nobody has that many rifles and when they do have any guns at all you've got to ask somebody who knows nothing about guns to "see" the gun.

My wife says she used to go to gun shows in California with her day and there'd be lots of tables with lot of gun.

Times Change

If I would have paid to go into this place and saw 6 guns somebody would have been refunding my money, or I would have had to turn it into a real "six-gun show"!--2MG

I just came from a gun show saw Hundreds of guns, Problem is I spent to much money.
Midland Michigan Gun shows till going tomorrow 4-3-05. $7.00 to get in.

Bought a Armalite AR-10 in 243, like new.

I just got back from the Tulsa, Ok gun show last night and it was great. It has so many guns that you can't see them all in one day unless you walk really fast and don't pay that much attention. They have one about every six months or so. If you get the chance to ever go to one of their shows I don't think you will be disapointed. I know that alot of you live along way off but if you can plan ahead and make the arrangements you should give it a try. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

Claud Hall puts on the show here in Vegas. They were great when I first tstarted going to them 10+ yrs ago. Ever since, they have steadly gone down hill.

We have decent gun shows here, I thought $6 was a lot to get in! We always have lots of guns to look at, but are way overpriced. I always laugh at the radio commercials announcing them. They say "Thousands of guns and gun related items at..Special Gunshow Prices..." Special yeah specially outragious. What really pisses me off at a show is the dealers who try to buy your stuff as you're walking around. I brought a mint series II Colt Det. Special w/ orig box and papers, to the last show I was at, looking to trade. Every fat slob of a dealer asks."whatcha got to sell there buddy?" I show them..."Oh there a dime a dozen, it's only worth $150 but I'll help you out....give 'ya $175." I just ask at that point, if it's only worth $150, why are you trying to sell the same exact model in not nearly as good of condition as mine, on your table there...for $550? Then they're mumbling some backpeddling BS as I walk away.
