Filming a hunt with a GoPro??

I am thinking of buying a GoPro in order to film a "typical" coyote hunting stand. Has anyone used one for this purpose and if yes, how satisfied were you with the results?

Please get back to me so that I can justify my costs if I decide to buy one.

Thanks,

Hello John! Whatever you want to film with a GoPro needs to be less than 25 yards away for you to even see it.

Check out this goose hunt my son filmed this last January.

I had a GoPro and gave it to my son, it was not very user friendly for this old man.

I just bought two Contour Roam video cameras they are much easier to use for me.

John, Go-Pro camera is good for one thing....to stick out in front of you at 5 yards or so and film yourself on stand. It makes good supplemental footage. It's worthless to film a POV with no zoom, unless you are calling in 15 yard coyotes or so.

For the same price, you can get an inexpensive HD camera that has zoom.

Hope that helps.

The go pro is horrible for viewing anything far away, a human sized target is pretty small when they are 50 yards away. You can see them at 100 yards but they look like a coyote looks to me at 500 yards. Just a spec.

Now if you hunt over a decoy and get some coyotes to charge the decoy you could set a go pro up 15 yards from it and potentially get some neat footage as the coyote charges in?

I wouldnt go out and buy one just for hunting films, but if your like me and have a family member with one that doesnt use it? why not give it a try?

Thanks for posting .
I almost picked up a Go Pro this week .
I'll be checking out some other HD cams .

Would they work mounted on a decoy dog?
