Finally got a flying job

Had a former coworker call me and ask if I wanted to come down to Las Vegas for an interview. So me and the Fiance headed down to vegas on Tuesday afternoon. I met the chief pilot on Wednesday and we talked for awhile waiting for the helicopter to get back. We went out and flew for about 35 min. It was extremely hot (110+) as the air conditioner decided to quit working /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif. I was nervous becuase I have never flown this helicopter and it has a nickname that it lives up to (squirel) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. It is a handful to fly but has alot of power and is very pilot friendly. I start training next week /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. The best part is I dont have to move, I will be working two weeks on two weeks off. I was getting a little nervous about not finding a job becuase this late in the season nobody likes to hire pilots. So if anybody is going on vacation to Vegas let me know and I can get a discount for grand canyon tours and strip tours. I will get some pictures when I start my training. They have a really cool paint scheme /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif. Its the american flag /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif.

Congratulations! Are you going to be doing the tours?

Yeah Weasel I will be flying the tours. Thats pretty much all they do. Tim the name of the company is Las Vegas Helicopters.

Way to go! That's a pretty sweet gig if you don't have to move and get two weeks off every two weeks as long as they pay well enough. I'm sure you'll be shooting a bunch of dogs this winter with so much time off.

Maybe your boss will let you borrow the helicopter every now and then for some "scouting" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congrats on the new job, post photos of your flying machine when you can... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I dont think that would go over to well. But it never hurts to ask right /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. The last company I worked for let me a few times but it was a cheap ($475 an hour) piston not a spendy($1600 an hour)turbine. Jack are you a pilot? Not to many people know what density altitude is /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. Thanks for the heads up its going to be an interesting job for sure /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif. Ken I will get some photos hopefully this week should start training Tuesday or wednesday

Thanks everybody for the kind words

Yes.
I have been flying over 40 years and have most of the ratings. Never did any fling wing stuff except as a passenger. Done most everything else including building 4 homebuilts and one Ultralight.

Jack

Thats the right seat Grandpa fudge. 99% of helicopters are right seat driven /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I spent all of my instructing days in Utah so I do know a little about DA, but im excited to be flying in 9000+ DA's. Its going to be a good experiance for sure.

The last plane I built, on my third flight when I requested takeoff clearance, in addition to winds etc. the tower volunteered that the density altitude was currently 11,300'.
That gets your attention, although not a problem for that airplane.

Jack

only been in one heli. and that was a 15$ flite and it was a left seat. i p.o. the guy to get a great ride.. if you never had the front prop on a skymaster stop at 1100 ft. and not restart, now that will get your attention!!lol
