The last 6 weeks has been totally consumed with stock shows. Either getting ready, being there, or recovering from them. County, Ft Worth, San Angelo, San Antonio. I have not had time for anything else, just surviving. But as of 2 days ago this stock show season is over.

So what did I do? I went out last night and knocked a little rust off. Killed 3 coyotes in 3 hours, it should have been 4. But I’ll take it. All were nice well furred coyotes. Killed them all with the little CZ527 in 223, shooting 50 Blitzkings.

I called them all up using an open reed call I made out of stabilized cottonwood burl, with a hand cut African Blackwood tone board. Really nice little call. At the end of the night I gave the call to my partner. That piece of cottonwood burl came out of a huge old tree that blew down on the first piece of property he ever bought. Kind of special to him.

Really nice night to get back in the swing of things.

YoteslayerWA, my CZ has killed a truckload of stuff over the years. Pigs, deer (my daughter killed her first several deer with it), coyotes, coons, badgers, skunks, possums, rabbits, no telling what all else, I can't remember.

Shot the first barrel out between 4-5K rounds. Got a factory takeoff replacement from James Calhoon, it had only been shot for the factory test target. First barrel was very good, second barrel is flat amazing how well it shoots. Cut it to 17" and run a Sico Harvester on it that has been converted to a flat end cap. Awesome night gun, very quiet with that long can on a small cartridge. Very light compact gun, shoots and carries like a dream. One of my favorite rifles I have ever owned. I will never get rid of it.

They look like litter mates. Mighty generous gesture of you with the call gift. Congrats on your success and kudos for your handcall skills.

Duck- Thermal I am using a Thermion XQ50 on the CZ and an AGM TS35-384 Varmint LRF on my pig gun.

Crapshoot- lots of ours around here are pretty pale, up here on the short grass plains. SE part of the county they tend to get bigger and darker.

Weekender- first two could have been littermates, killed on the same stand but from different directions. #3 came from 20 miles away though.
