Hey fellows, my sweet 25-06 has got me wondering, it needs a tune up bad, what a great opertunity to
try something different.

I've got an armalite ar15 m4 in .223, gonna try to use it to hunt eastern predators night and day'

new to hunting predators also, the ar i have is a mid length, and has a halo atn i believe, i shot a
few rounds with it with, the sight, it's so-so a 2" group at 50 yds and a 5 inch group at 100 stringing
up and down mostly, cheap wally ammo, plan on loading some 50g b-tips.

shooting yds will be 30 to 100 mostly and the longest range of 225.

questions. should i try to work with the atn sight,
try a red dot, or mount a low power small scope say 2x7x 32?
i like to shoot at least moa to build confidence for hunting.
and i don't have much in the gun, so if i spend up to $500 more
to make it a complete hunting rig i'll be happy.

gonna need a bi-pod for sure probably a tall one.
maybe a light? not for sure? sorry.

It needs to be simply yet effective, dependable, confortable,
not too heavy, no frills, no bells or whisles, just business.

also i'm confy with my nose 2"to 2 3/4" off the charge handle
any help, leads, or info, i'd be thankful for.

SCOPE, far and away. A small dot like a Burris fast fire on a picatiny 45 mount could be added. But on my AR my scopes are needed. My 6x45 are far to accurate at long range for only a dot sight...

Thanks i should scope it, I agree. I will be looking, I have several now, maybe a make do, mostly 3x9x 40s since my max range will be 225yds i'm thinking a 2x7x 32 or there abouts.
since i'm new to both, will i need a light or such, i know i need some kinda light, just aint sure. how about night vision will that blow my $500 budget. maybe a red light? heck i don't know what i'm doing, that's why i'm asking you guys on here.
i know you'd all hate to see me spend my $ on something i don't need, just a basic rig i can trust. i have about 6 weeks to get this rig up and running, wont start till rifle deer is over. any tips for a eastern predator rig, mostly coyote will be a blessing for me. there should be a predator rig i can slip on my flat top, install a bipod, work up a load and go.
maybe that's too easy, then again nothings easy anymore.

I use a 3-9X40 on my Specialized Dynamics 16in bull barrel flat top .223, it's about all the scope I need, in fact it is a little too much in some cases. Shooting that close you would do well to stay under that, and even try a dot sight. I would use a dot more, but in AZ the dot tends to get faded out by the glaring sun.

I really like the Versapod bipod. They are not too expensive, and they snap on and off in just seconds. You can get mounts for them cheap, so that you can install mounts on your different guns, and switch the bi-pod easier than most. They have ridgid models as well as ones that swivel.

Good luck
