Fiocchi Extrema .223 50gr v-max factory ammo

I just purchased a box of 200 of the Fiocchi Extrema .223 50gr v-max ammo from Midway since it was on sale for $91 plus shipping so for around $.50/round I thought it might be worth a try for plinking if nothing else.

Anyone been shooting this ammo and if so what did you think of it? Any idea what kind of brass they use as it didn't say in the listing.

Most of the reviews I see on the major retailers sites for this ammo are favorable so I thought I'd take a chance on some. Maybe I should have bought a few more?

Thanks.

Fiocchi is Italian and they make and use their own brass - it is "OK" ammo.

The "reviews" mean nothing cuz 98% of the reviewers will rate it good if it goes bang when the trigger is pulled.

The brass is very good IMO. I have over 10+ reloads on all of it in my mix of brands.
Ive ran at least 7500k of their SRP also with out a single issue.

Use it with confidence. Several years ago when I had my .223AI put together I wanted to use all new brass/ammo to fireform in it. Well, Cabela's had that very ammo on sale for $20 a box of 50 back then. Heck, I couldn't buy the components and load it for that cheap. Anyway it shot great in my gun. Really, half and inch or so when fireforming the AI as well as my AR-15. I went back to Cabela's the next day and bought 20 more boxes of it. Still got some too. Good stuff it is.

I haven't used their rifle ammunition, but their pistol ammunition is what goes in my EDC. I've fired enough of it to find it extremely reliable, very accurate, and it functions 100% in my gun.

I shot a couple boxes of it and was pleased with the way they shot, but after bending the pin in my Lee universal decapping die because of the off center holes I pitched all the brass.

I noticed that too. It never has been a problem for me as over the years and I must have loaded 1000's of them and the decapping pin always seems to find the flash hole (which is punched, not drilled BTW) with no problem. I do seem to remember someone bending a decappping pin one time come to think about it, but it has never happened to me.

It is a bit of a quirk with that brass, but like I said, never been an issue with my reloads.

I got the Fiocchi ammo today so I had to go out and shoot some this evening to see how it would do out of the Savage Precision Carbine.

The POI was 1/2 MOA left and 1/4 MOA low from the 52gr HP's I had been shooting so after a couple of rounds to get it dead on @ 100 yards I shot a 3 shot group that was between 1/2" and 3/4". I then took my 6" steel target out to 200 yards and clicked up 1 MOA as I knew that should get me about dead on for 200 yards and proceeded to shoot this 3 shot group.

The group measured about 1-1/8" so I'm pretty satisfied with it since it only cost me $.50/round.

I may have to buy another 200 round box of it (or two) to keep on hand while it's on sale @ Midway for $91. They had the same 200 pack @ Scheels for $124.95.

I been using it in ars for 3yrs. Excellent ammo with the vmax. Groups as good as any factory ammo ive seen.annd the price is right. I love the brass. It annealed I believe. Primer holes off center no big deal. No issues reloading it here.
