Firepower FP-10 CLP

I obtainined a sample of a new CLP Firepower FP-10 to try out. Supposedly this is actually good for cleaning where Breakfree isn't. Claims to work on powder and lead residue but no mention of copper.

Well, I don't know about the powder and lead residue cleaning as I pretty much use Butch's Bore Shine to also remove copper as well when cleaning barrels. But after cleaning my .45 yesterday and looking for the gun oil I remembered the sample packet I had and decided to try it.

I was somewhat suprised when the smell of the stuff hit me. It smells like peppermint. Much easier on the nose than alot of the other stuff.

Since I had pretty much already cleaned the pistol, I don't know how well it works as a cleaner. As a lube it doesn't seem too thick or too thin really. Claims not to freeze down to -65 degrees.

The peppermint odor isn't super strong. After a day of having been lubed I had to pretty much put my nose right up to the pistol to smell the peppermint.

I've used FP-10 for quite awhile now. I like it a bunch. FP-10 stays where you put it, it doesn't run off, evaporate, or migrate and pool to a low spot. Supposedly according to scientific scar test it's slicker'n about anything else on the market providing excellent lubrication and rust prevention to boot. Smells like cinammon to me. I've personally spoken with the owner of the company and exchanged e-mail with the guy, he seems a stand up guy who's concern is the quality of his product and the happiness of his customer. I don't use it for cleaning purposes so couldn't vouch for that claim.

Peppermint? Peppermint? PEPPERMINT????? Glenn, we gotta talk dude. There is NO better smell than gun cleaning solvent. If my wife had worn Hoppes #9 instead of Chanel #5, we would have been married much sooner. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
By the way, Lance sent me a picture of your fox, it turned out pretty good.

I started using FP-10 way back when it first came out just because it was the hottest thing on the market at the time. Used it exclusively on my IPSC guns. Now it's the only lube I use for everything. The best thing I like about it is the fact that it won't stiffen up in the cold. All my guns' actions work as smoothly in cold weather as they do in the summer. Peppermint????

Ok, it's not peppermint, it's cinamon. So I was off a little. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I knew it reminded me of a chewing gum flavor. Hey, at least I didn't go with spearmint.
