First cat down.

Called in a nice big bobcat a few weeks back to around 60 yds running a rabbit distress call on my Icotec. Started really low volume and in probably less than 2 minutes he was coming in on a string. Was kind of surprised wasn’t expecting it even though there are a lot of cats where I’m at. He was blocked by a tree on the way in so I had to wait but he got to the caller, realized something was up then ran back about 30 yds toward the tree line and stopped and I got a good frontal shot. Jumped up and ran about 20 yds. Was a cool hunt in a pretty rugged thick bunch of bush. Anyway just wanted to share. 55gr v max from my .223 wylde. Need a can now. 😂

Cats are crazy. I’ve had some come in pretty fast and get about 30-40 yards from the caller and just sit and look at it.
I’ve had others break cover and do that low sneak…5 or 6 steps and stop, 5 or 6 steps and stop like they’re trying to sneak up on it.
I’ve had others that run straight to the caller and sit beside it despite it playing at full volume, lol.
What’s really crazy about cats at night is they just don’t care!! I shot one below me coming to the call. I scan around and something tells me to scan further left…there sits a cat looking at me and then at the caller. I swing around and miss an easy 30yd shot. He does a couple leaps down the road while I’m charging another round and just sits back down and looks at me, then the caller again. I didn’t miss the second time, lol.

Congrats on your cat! I’m sure they’ll be a lot more!!

On two separate occasions, I watched a guest hunter with me miss a bobcat with their first shot, which blew snow and/or leaf duff all over the place, only to have the cat hunker down and freeze right there. In both occasions, the shooter rushed the second shot and did a repeat of blowing ground litter across the cat. I was able to talk them into slowing down and making the third shot count. Once the shooter was using a 12 gauge and Number Four Buck, the other time the shooter was using a .308 rifle. I think sometimes the cat's natural reaction is to get low and let their camouflage hide blend into the ground cover. How the guy with the shotgun missed twice with buckshot still mystifies me somewhat. I can only guess that his shotgun patterned very tightly, the cat was about 20-something yards, and he was really yanking the trigger and lifting his head off the stock. The first two shots went low; I could see the impacts in the leaves. I think he was "peeking," which will cause a low miss. I have long said that bobcats are beautiful animals... but not all that bright.

Tried posting a pic but it won’t load on my phone. I’m kind of an idiot w technology. Also I remembered after posting this day I was running federal 50 gr HP’s. I usually always run different factory loads of the vmax. The 50 gr put out a nasty exit.

Here is one figured it out

Congratulations on first cat; he's a big 'un, too!

Come on guys, jump in here and help with sizing pictures. I too will be waiting for the answers, and make it very plain and simple.!

I never try to post pictures from my phone, I hate that tiny keyboard, so upload them from phone to "my pictures" in computer and they post full screen.

What I have to do is pull up the pic on my phone…take a screen shot of said pic. Pull up that pic and crop out that black and a tiny bit of the bottom and do the same with the top half and then save it to be able to post it here.

The few times I have posted pics from my iphone they went seamlessly by just clicking on the 'attach files' below this box and selecting then add it. But in my vids I do send them to the comp then add them in 'Clipchamp" when editing.
