Hello, I am new to the board and to calling predators. I have shot a few coyotes and a bobcat in my days sitting in the deer stand. Well centexslim (another PM member that I work with) has been rambling on and on about how much fun it was to call in yotes. So I decided to give it a try. Well if you read the first post from Centexslim on the night calling page http://www.predatormastersforums.com/ubb...page=0#52173310
then you know that our first hunt we saw a bunch of yotes but I was unable to take a shot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
So last night I decided to try calling behind my house. I took my "Johnny Stewart open reed coyote dog howler cyc-1" and my JS pc-7. I am new to calling so normally I only use the pc-7 but I wanted to try the open reed call. I did the best I could with it and with 10 minutes I had a red fox checking me out about 20 yards away. He kinda surprised me because he came from almost behind me. I was hunting a cross wind with the sun going down to my back. Anyway so I moved over to take the shot and let him get a little farther away. He would take a few steps and then look at me. Finally I got the gun around and got the cross hairs on him. I barked and he stopped dead in his tracks. I pulled the trigger and dropped him dead. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Ok that is all it took now I am hooked to another form of hunting. This reminds me of duck and turkey hunting. I really enjoy calling animals in instead of just waiting for them to walk by.
I have enjoyed reading lots of the posts.
