first stand in a long time

after a break of a couple years, I finally made it back out. ive tried on and off in the past and ive managed to call in two coyotes. the first one, I shot but didn't recover, I suspect due to wrong shot size.... the second, I couldn't get a shot.

this evening I went out behind my parents house for a bit and left empty handed, but still had a blast. this was my setup with a shotgun. give it a look and let me know what you think about it. I struggle with my entry, call placement, and stand placement, but I feel like I did decent on this one.....I think I could have cut into the woods about 20yds sooner but overall I felt pretty confident in it.

yellow line-entry and exit route
red pin-call
white pin-me
blue arrow-wind direction
green star- second coyote I called in but couldn't get a shot a several years ago.
white dotted line- linear measurements
brown square- house
pink line- houses and road just out of the picture
red lines- property lines

the picture is oriented the same way I was facing, call on my left, and draw to my right.

my call was about 10' inside the wood line, I was about 25 yards inside the woodline and a draw to my right about 40 yards.
from my location I could see out into the field decently, down the inside of the woodline I could only see about 30 yards, straight ahead I could see out to 80 yds at the most and then 40 yds to the right at the draw.

Evening meaning when it was still light out ?
If possible I wouldn't hunt so close to the house and I would hunt in a treestand or ground blind to minimize scent dispersal if hunting during daylight hours.
A day in the woods is better than a day on the couch.

A little tough without knowing elevation changes and cover thickness. But I would probably setup inside the woods edge about 40-50 yards northeast of the green star in the corner of the little pocket of the clearing. Caller northeast along edge or just inside woods.

It’s further from the house. You had a call-in in that vicinity previously. There’s a secluded opening where they might be more apt to show themselves in the open ground downwind of a caller. If they stay in woods hopefully it’ll be clear enough for a shot.

yea evening was before dark. right there at sunset. ill be honest, im not motivated enough to hang a stand in a tree to hunt them.

ill give it a try of getting further away from the houses. im not allowed to hunt the property to the north. so ill have to play around with that and/or see if I can get permission to hunt it.
