Fixed or adjustable stock

New to The AR world. Curious about accuracy in fixed vs adjustable stocks? All I can find online for advice is tactical Timmy’s. Just seems like an adjustable stock with its little bit of slop could cause accuracy issues when in abnormal positions. If you are in a perfect position and have the gun sucked up into your shoulder the same every time I don’t see an issue, bit if you are twisted around trying to get on something does it cause any problems??

Or is that going to be an issue with the semi auto action movement anyways?

Thanks for any advice from more experienced AR users. Thanks!

Me either. You should not have a lot of slop/looseness on the adjustable stock. If you do Google it. You can add tape to the inner tube to take up the slack.
I changed my only fixed stock to an adjustable.

I assume you men the 'carbine' style stock. Yes they don't 'sit' on rear bag very well and weren't meant for 'accurate' target shooting. But the slop goes away when freehand shooting. I've never worried about 'slop' between upper and lower either.

I have a Magpul adjustable stock on my AR and it has a lock on it to the buffer tube and takes any slop out of it. There are times I forget to lock it and it still shoots fine.

If you want to see how much slop there is in an AR, just dry fire it on the bench a few times while watching the crosshairs jump side to side on the target. I normally see about an inch of movement just from the slop between the upper and lower. You won't be worried about the play in the stock amymore. I've messed around quite a bit trying to take up all the play and from what I can find if you've got an accurate load and a good barrel , they will shoot one hole regardless of slop anywhere.

Exactly this. I have a steel laminated lower I made, it locks up as tight as a vault, It did improve accuracy one bit, same for stock slop.
