FL or Neck size your 22-250 ?

Well in my opinion i like to neck size. When you neck size fireformed brass, the caseings fit your chamber perfectly.Just make sure you only use caseings from your gun. Also you dont have to trim your caseings as often and they will last longer. The other thing is that it takes very little force to neck size.I have read that fireformed brass will shoot more acurate than full length sized.

.22-250 cases tend to stretch because of the significant taper. They will last a few more loadings if you neck size only. I have also found that most standard sizing dies actually over-work the case neck by reducing the neck diameter and then pulling it back over the expander ball on the de-priming pin, using a Redding bushing style neck sizer that just sizes enough to hold the bullet will increase case life a bit.

Zeb,

I neck size all my 'varmint' rifle loads. I use Lee Collet Dies exclusively. After several firings, you will notice the bolt begin to get stiff when chambering a round. You may at some point want to full length size, and then begin neck sizing again after that. Or, once they get stiff, just get new brass and save yourself the bother.

Lee Precision guarantees that their dies will produce great accuracy, or they will refund your money. Collet Dies are relatively cheap ($25 or less) and they work.

If accuracy is the name of the game, then you probably want to consider neck sizing.

Good Shooting.

Here's a second for the Lee collet dies. They are the best for working the neck as little as possible. It is hard to believe the least expensive dies can be that good, but the collet principle just makes sense and it works.

I didn't know about the Collet Sizer..., makes sence to me!!

Are the LEE Seating & Crimp dies any good?

I've always used Forster Ultra Seating dies and never crimped.

Do whatever works for you.
I do know that the people shooting matches where prize money is paid do not crimp. Most of them also full length resize every time. That is what they think is best when money is on the line. People shooting for money are pretty serious and try everything to get an advantage.

That doesn't mean that something different might not work for you.

Sevral years ago,Rick Taylor set the world record for smallest 1000 yard group. His record stood for 7 years befor being broken. He was reloading with a lee loader. This is a simple tool that neck sizes in the same way as the lee collet dies.I also like the lee collet dies. For about 35.00 you can get a delux set of dies.It comes with collet, and full length sizer dies.
