How do I get rid of flying squrriels in my attic.
I'm thinking rat trap with peanutbutter. Any other options would be welcome.

That works.

You can also lay down some rat poison if you don't have pets that may eat the dead buggers. Don't buy powder, buy the stuff in the plastic pouches that comes in pellet form. Open the pouch.

We see those critters all winter on our birdfeeders. Especially the hanging ones....they'll glide right in and land on them.

If they're giving you problems, then 243sniper is giving you the best advice. The pelletized poison is superior.

I have used peanutbutter and a rat trap with sucess. Be very careful though. If the PA Game Comission finds out you could be inserious trouble. Flying Squirrels are protected.
PAGC will tell you to use a live trap

20 years ago I caught 48 in my folks attic. They will often lick the peanut butter off the trap w/out setting it SO, this is what I did. Put a small piece of dog food in the peanut butter so they really have to dig at it and set the trap off. Also, be sure to tie off the trap to something in case they set it off and get 1/2 caught in it and decide to run down your interior wall and die, stinky dude, very stinky if this happens. Those traps will be snapping all night!! Check your local game laws too.

Trapping wont do you any good for any type of situation untill you find and locate every hole or gap that they are getting in.Check with your state regs first if you need a depredation permit.Permits usually are free of charge vs paying fine for trapping with out one.If your not allowed to trap them you sure dont want to use a rodenticide unless you or your family cant smell. Not knowing what PA'S structural pest control regs are you most likley cant use poision as I dont belive any are labled for use in "baiting" for squirrels and using any product inconsistent with the labeling is a federal regulation.Dont want to sound as if the federallies are going to come down on you but chance it.If you look up wild life control on the web you can get a lot of info specific to your situation.
After finding all hole larger than a quater seal them up .Dont use expandable foam without useing a wire mesh (1/4 or1/2 in mesh)or copper wool also as it can easley be chewed thru. Leave one or two holes open and put a evictor type devise at these openings to allow the critters to escape. As long as all other holes have been addressed, you can sucessfully evict them. The advantage to using a evictor vs a trap is it is much quicker to get the flyers out of a attic and you dont have to keep checking traps in a attic. One source of the evictors is "Wildlife Control Supplies" Good luck.If that seems like to much work, look up Wildlife damage control in the yellow pages.

I had them and used peanut butter and a Victor rat trap. It worked. I would hear them at 2-4:00 am it drove me NUTTS. I only had 2.... I still have the trap set. I finally got it and have slept like a baby ever since.

I would tie the trap... I got a great kill but the they could take the trap if not tied.
