Foxes around Bedford Pa

I live in Cwntral Pa, and am looking for someone whomay know where i can find some red foxes. The area i hunt is a decent area for greys, and have heard coyotes answer my howls but i havent seen any red foxes yet... anyone with help would be appriciated.
 
justin, how close to bedford are you, I hunt mostly outside of tyrone, we have very few reds here also, its a trade off, the yotes have a terrible time catching the greys but the reds can't get away from them so where you have a high yote pop, generally there are few reds. I was wondering if you would be interested in hooking up sometime for greys or yotes ? let me know what ya think. Steve
 
I'm from northeast pa(lackawanna county).Very few reds in my neck of the woods as well.Even our grey fox population is WAY down,I blame distemper.Coyote population is booming however.Every year there seems to be more and more of them.Very difficult to call though.I've had only three responses in the last several years when it comes to yotes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
 
there may be more reds out there than you think, since they are more shy and sly that might be why it seems like they arent there. i have seen them but they usually come in slow and often sit observe the situation then leave. greys seem more daring and ususally run right in. just my 2 cents worth.
 
As to beagler, We called in 5 coyotes in a pack last Saturday night, but they were real skiddish and wouldnt leave the brush onto the powerline i was on. But ive had responses to the electronic howler sound i used everytime. My suggestion is to key in or a fire or something and go stragiht out. The nite they came in, the whistle blew and they howled and we howled and 10 minutes later they showed up. odd of timing that again are about a million 2 one but it worked for us, aside from the fact dad missed the shot. I wanted to get back to you, I have a rough idea of where you are at, I am just outside tyrone toward Houtzdale, right in the middle of the state game lands. I was just wondering if you would be interested in hooking up sometime, we could go try some callin, I have not been havin much luck on the yotes the last week or so at all, I have them located just can't get them to come in. Steve, Sure i am interested in hooking up sometime, I have a Johnny Stewart digital caller and the one cartridge i have has a sound called coy/wolf barks and howls.Its alot of different vocalizaions and they seem to answer if theyre in the area. i have some general predator sounds and a grey fox cartridge, so i can make just about any sound we would need. Im going tonite with a guy whose killed 28 yotes this year, so ill pick up on some of his tricks =)and his best fox night was 35 in one day. and the email should be elwood42988@yahoo.com i hit , by accident- Ill get ahold of ya on AOL -Justin

Justin,i have been hunting Bedford county for quite a while now,and have never seen any reds.I have seen grays though. I live in Montgomery county,and we are loaded with reds.

My father in-law used to have a place in Loysburgh.Have fished the Yellow creek many times also.My wifes uncle has a dairy farm about 10 minutes away from Loysburgh.He(my father in-law) sold that about 5 years ago and bought a place at the bottom of the county,around Purcell.Did you ever hear of the "Road Kill Cafe" in Artemas?

Holy Cow. I am an Altoona Boy. I have stomped all over Bellwood and Tipton. Hunted deer in Janesville and Blandburgh. I live in Franklin County now. Every fox I have seen in Franklin, Fulton or Bedford County has been gray. We did not start getting into Reds until we got a spot or two in Adams county in the bottoms away from the Mountians. Yellow Creek, pronounced yellercrick in them parts. I hunt the backside of that mountain in Warfordsburg and Amaranth for deer and squirrles. Goin to look at three or four farms in Huntingdon County toward Broadtop City above McConellsburg next week. Sounds like gray foxes also. Guy who owns has been wanting me to come shoot deer. Beat on some doors on 915 on the other side of Hopewell towards the Turnpike those bottoms might have a red or two.
 
Justin I saw you posted you were from bedford- and I wanted to see if we could hunt the ajoining areas of somerset-bedford counties? The season late but maybe next year?

I live in Bedford county ( Bard/Buffalo Mills area.) If either of you would be intrested in a coyote or fox hunt let me know. Killed a pretty nice female coyote last week in this area.
 
pa teeny, sorry about not emailing you back yet, havent had much time to be on here. Would love to do a hunt on the weekend you mentioned. I will email you as soon as i get enough time.
 
Coyotekid no problem with spelling-

I do know alot of Morroco clans in somerset. We just Hired a nanny from glenco that has a farm full of coyotes she said come down annytime. I love to hear that- My wife said I would be down that night- but maybe during the march 12 hunt. email me-
