Been away from this site now for while but thought i would share this with those intrested in foxing, this was one of our nights lamping, only just started a couple of week ago after receiving my new 223 ackley improved,we arrived on one of our farms lamped and called for about 45 mins but nothing showed,so went onto the next area same result,it was almost two and a half hours and not a shot fired things were looking a bit bad for us,we then decided to go to an area where you have to walk, after caling for five mins the first fox showed got on a bail and took it out,a very fine dog fox,(the one on the left) after a bit of walking and calling we spoted a fox a couple of hundred yards away,we got to a decent range and the field was long grass so had to get to a high point to get a shot, fox No 2 fell to a 55 v-max,almost right away another showed in the forestry no more than 80 to 90 yds away it was a while before a clear shot was presented fox three in the bag,by now the lamp was starting to fade so we made our way back to the vehicle, fox No 4 spoted in the field where the first was shot, this fox was a lot wiser than the other three ,call would not stop it so it was a case of get down and wati for it to stop,it was a fair way off so i held a little higher on the shoulder squezed off and down it went ,resulting a desent nights lamping

Great fox hunt, would you mind sharing what calls that you used? Electronic or mouth calls and what brand name?

Good job

I see our cousins across the pond are showing us how it's done. Excellent hunt, gentlemen!! We do not begin our fox season here in the State of Pennsylvania until Oct 20th, and we are patiently waiting........just for your information we are now allowed to have our predator lights mounted on our guns OR scopes for the first time ever. Our Governer signed the bill into law and it took effect on September 3rd.......before that we had to hold our lights against our firearms when shooting, which made for much practice and a steady nerve.....Good Luck to you over there.......

John

Hi Pruson most of the time we use a callmaster digital fox call dont have picture as it is my hunting budies, also a foxpro and a mouth call all work very well, sometimes depending on the time of year they only stop the fox enough to get a shot

John 1951 There is no season on fox's in the uk but we also start at around the same time unless we get a call out,as for lamping fortunately we have no restrictions as to what we use

engshooter,
Great job. When we lamp over here we use red lenses on our lights, I see your lights don't have any on them. Do you just use them white.?? If you do, does it scare off the fox much.? Also I thought I saw a bare end wire in one pic...do you just attach them to the battery straight hook up or do you use the cigarette lighter connection? Just trying to learn something new possibly. Thanks petejc a Pennsylvania lamper... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Hi peterjc ,we very rarely use the filter infact i can not remember the last time i used it,i would say 99% of the time the fox only sees the lamp once and it's good night viena but ocasionaly you do get a lampshy fox unless this fox is causing a problem we leave it,we have called foxs upto 50 yds from us some times they come in that fast you have to make a noise to stop them to get a shot,we never put the light directly in there eyes once we have spoted them,we will keep it underneath just enough for a clear shot, the lamps come with cigarette lighter conections but these get removed,so we wire the lamp straight upto the battery,as a lot of our lamping is done on foot this is the easiest meathod for us,we also carry atleast three batteries as sometimes we are out shooting upto seven hours
