been using a foxpro 416b for several years now and am wanting to get a firestorm or cs-24. is there much difference in the 24bit sound quality on the cs-24 compared to the 16bit sound quality of the firestorm?

I guess I am not sure what you mean by scratched records. I use open reed howlers for coyote vocalizations ki-yis and prey distress sounds along with my old foxpro and the 416b has served me well no doubt about that but it is time for a new one. The 416b had been used hard by a friend of mine when i bought it off of him. I was just curious if anyone on here had heard sounds from the 24 bit callers and the 16bit callers and if they could tell much difference between the two.

i meant i doubt the old JS record players that took 12 d batterys were even 16 bit and alot of fur was killed...

i cant tell much difference between the calls on a older scorpion...and a newer fury...doubt the yotes can either...

Happyyoter, I have seen a old JS cassette player with a speaker I did not know they made a record player too. I appreciate your input on the scorpion and the fury the foxpro 416b is the only one i have heard and used myself.

It's just like anything else, the technology is better, therefore you will get better sound quality along with better recording quality. It is there even though most of it is indistinguishable to even the best human ears. Is it necessary?? Probably not but it doesn't hurt and you will be impressed with the newer models volume and clarity. It's just like everything else, I love having the newest cell phones and gadgets, where as other guys here at work don't understand it. their 5 year old cell phones still make calls!! But they can't check the PM classified while they are at work !!! Mine can lol

titansfan, I see what you mean about the technology, like happyyoter talked about the record players and now the new foxpros it is amazing where they have taken e callers. Using the e caller on particular stand set ups with hand calls here in southwest Missouri is a must in my opinon. It helps me to see the coyote before he sees me. Just want to save money if i can. thanks for your ideas on the subject I appreciate it.

camosynthetic,

I just responded to your PM with this same response, but I felt compelled to post it as well. Here's my reply:

24 bit sounds are definitely of a higher quality than 16 bit. There's no doubt about that. The question is what difference does it make to the predators? That is a tougher question to answer. My philosophy is this. 24 bit is like High Def is to the eyes, but only to the ears. Our ears are not nearly as sensitive as a predators ear, so you can assume that they can tell the difference much better than we do. Does that mean that scratched records won't work--of course not. But, do they work better--yes, I believe so. We are trying to convince a predator to come in to a call by fooling his ears--the better you fool him, the better the odds are in your favor of calling him in.
