While I don't post here often, I do read this forum and enjoy it. I have been using Foxpro callers for almost 6 yrs and simply put, they are GREAT callers that work under demanding conditions. I recently became a FOXPRO field tester and am humbled by the reputations of their other field testers. Some of these guys I was reading about when I was a kid! I have been addicted to predator hunting for almost 3 decades. The only thing certain about predators is that I still have a LOT to learn about how to hunt them. I call with both mouth and electronic callers and enjoy both. When you get down to it, it is the hunt that matters. You can have the best caller in the world, but if you screw up the HUNT, you will go home empty handed.
Over time, I have gotten to know Mike and John Dillon and I have tremendous respect for these hard working guys. They design and make their own callers and have the best warranty in the business. They are honest and straight up in all their dealings with their customers BAR NONE. If there is one thing I can count on it is that Mike and John are constantly improving their product line and they listen to the hunters who buy them. As a field tester we are called upon to use and ABUSE these callers to see if they can hold up to our incredible demands. Frigid temps, rain, dropping off car roofs, dropped by owls and more are just part of the game I love.
While I have been excited about all their new products, their new decoy "Jack In The Box" is simply incredible. I have already tested it on coon and fox and simply, it works GREAT. This decoy has a host of features that blow me away. I have used motion decoys for both waterfowl and crow hunting and the results are not to be ignored. They cause the target animal to completely focus their attention on the caller and not the hunter. They add that last bit of realism that makes a wary fox come sprinting out fo the woods for an open field even in broad daylight. If I hadn't seen it myself this morning, I might not have believed it. While this is not the most expensive product FOXPRO has built, it may well be the most important to date IMHO. Below is simply a copy and paste of a post I put on GGVG this morning after my fox hunt...
Blew off a morning bowhunt during the rut to test out the new FOXPRO Jack In The Box decoy system. This is a moving decoy complete with built in light, squeaker, multiple speeds, timer and the ability to work via your callers remote control. I plugged my caller into the decoy box and set controls to remote sensing. I was not running the squeaker, but the calls on my caller which was next to the decoy. I just covered up the caller and box with a few leaves. Essentially what you could see was a moving decoy and you heard the calls I chose from my remote location. I could also control the movement of the decoy with the aux button on my remote control. Call change, volume and mute all still work great but now with extended distance with the new remote! Can you say SWEET!
At any rate, I propped up a camcorder on a barbed wire fence in a rather precarious position but pointing at the decoy which was in the field. This particular field has been good to me in the past but only during LOW or no light conditions. When fox hear a dying animal, they come through the thicket in the woods and will not enter unless they see what is dying. It is most definitely a tough sell with any daylight. I initially tried woodpecker, rabbit and starling with some breaks between them. When I switched to blue jay in distress, this red came hopping out of the woods. I had to wait for him to get in the cameras viewfinder before I could shoot. He attention was glued to the moving decoy which was sounding like a bird in distress. He looked at it, stopped and I believe he caught me at the woods edge by the fence. I was hiding by a tree but remember I had a silver camcorder stuck in the fence. The fox was likely 40+ yds but I was using a 3.5" 2.25 ounce load of B Hevishot. At the shot, he stumbled and ran to the edge of the woods where he quickly died. I have a couple other video clips, but have to download them and it is time to pick up my daughter. Catch you later and thanks to the Dillons at FOXPRO for keeping up with technology and setting new standards in the calling industry.

Hey guys sorry this got so long but I have to make up for my absence here! LOL Hope you all have a safe and successful calling season.
If you want to see another nice video clip of a red fox going about his business in the woods, just go to Foxpro's website and look at the field staff page. Look under my name and there is a link to both the video clip as well as an article I wrote about hunting fox. I still have a lot to learn myself and that is why I enjoy reading these forums. Likewise, I hope you guys continue to keep posting so we may all become better hunters. Have a great one and get out hunting.
