Foxpro compact flash memory cards?

ok, I've received response from FoxPro about the programming issues I've had with my fury2. And it seems the flash memory card is most likely the culprit and needs replacing as it won't change (edit/delete/add sounds).

Has anyone replaced their memory cards? Are there any differences between cards that might have compatability issues? can I increase the size of the card to store more and larger sounds? OR do I need to replace with like for like 4gb?

It doesn't sound like its a difficult repair and posting it back to them and return post international is gonna be rather expensive.

I don't think the flash memory card is field replaceable on a Fury.. To gain access to it you need to disassemble your Fury and possibly even remove the motherboard... Maybe Possum Al or Yote Yoda will jump in. They have forgotten more about Foxpro calls then I will ever know.

FoxPro sent me instructions. Seems pretty simple. Open her up. Remove board. remove hot glue on card then reverse to install.

I'm just not overly familiar in memory card technology. I can't see any differences between any online listings which suggests they are all the same except for capacity. I've sent FoxPro a email asking the same question. I'm just impatient. A day without the caller is a potential lamb lost to foxes. The sooner its all sorted the better for the flock.

AS I understand it, the Fury does not have a memory card you fool with. The ecaller will hold lots of sounds, more than you'll ever use. I've never heard of anyone having this type of problem, but I guess there's a first for everything. I would think a phone call to FoxPro to talk to one of the techs would be in order.

I assume you have the latest FoxPro programming utility? If not you need to download it as it makes it easy to add/delete sounds.

Is it possible to have the required repair work done locally? With a competent electronics tech and the necessary memory card, the work itself could be done fairly easily. However, it's not recommended by FOXPRO. By going that route, realize that there is no warranty. The warranty coverage for parts and labor requires that the device be at this facility. In addition, any problems or damages that arise as a result of an attempt to repair it will not be covered by warranty.

The machine has a compact flash memory card (should be 4GB installed at present). The card resides in a card-socket on one of the two PCB's. The card will be glued into position. Once the machine is opened, the first thing you should see is the board with the USB port. The card is on the underside of that board. The board is connected to a second board through a bank of header pins and held down with 4 screws. Once the board is unscrewed and backed out, flipping it over will reveal the memory card. The glue will need to be removed. It's hot-glue, so typically a pair of tweezers can get the job done nicely. The original card can then be removed and a new card can be installed. Reassembly should then begin by reversing the original process and taking care that no wires are pinched during that stage.

After the device is back together, the card must be setup. This can be accomplished through Windows. Attach the device to the PC. Format the card with a FAT32 file system. Be sure to assign the volume label: "GX7" to the card as well. When that is complete, the next step is to install the sounds. If you did not make a backup of your sounds previously, we can provide you with a link from where you can download the original sounds. Finally, when the sounds are loaded everything should be back to normal.

Easy fix. Cost me $25 for the memory card here about 30 mins work to install new card and reprogram the caller and remote and I'm good to go again.

Thanks FOXPRO!!!!!
