I have a firestorm and I cant seem to get more than a hour use out of store bought AA batterires. Anybody have sugestions on batteries, or the rechargable from foxpro the way to go?

i have the foxpro batteries and have no problems. They stay charged for me. From what i read the firestorm regular batts cant stand the drainage the callers require. I did try regular batts and had the same issue until i bought these. hope this helps also you can do a search on here for that question

That would contribute to batteries frying quickly,..Most use the horn end only for most calling needs,.And battery life I'm sure you'll see them last much longer.

I use Sanyo Eneloops in my WT MA-21 and they perform very well. I have no experience with the Foxpro ones, but they may perform well too.

The new FOXPRO batteries are right there with any brand of top end rechargables in my opinion!

JTHED,

Alkaline batteries are best used as a backup in the Firestorm, and not as the main source of batteries. Rechargeables are your best bet, and will yield the best results in your unit. I like to run both speakers all of the time on my units, and I can get days of use before they need to be recharged.

The batteries that we are using are an excellent choice for batteries. Like the Sanyo Eneloops, they are a low self discharge, high capacity NiMH battery. They are hard to beat. Normal NiMH batteries self discharge at a much higher rate than low self discharge batteries. In a nutshell, that means a fully charged set of these sitting on the shelf will last a lot longer. If you leave your caller sitting on the shelf for a week or more, the regular NiMH batteries that were fully charged could now be much less. Whereas the low self discharge batteries will last much longer on a full charge sitting on the shelf.

Hope this helps!

Use either the Foxpro batteries or the sony eneloop type and you should be all set!!Like Mike said use those alkaline batteries as maybe a spare set in the field. What I do too.

For the remote I like to use those energizer 8X lithium ones you find at wally world in the camera section.Probably a lot of remote cold weather issues could be resolved using these as well in the remote.I give snowcamoman credit for that.

im sure if you turn the rear speaker off, you will see a big change in battery life..If you read in your instruction manual, or do research on FP calls, it will tell you that the rear speaker is for lower frequency sounds such as "huffs and jaw snaps of a bear" the front cone speaker should be more than enough...

A guy that works at Foxpro told me that the Eneloop batteries are the exact same as the Foxpro ones, if it makes a difference to you. I am ordering the 8 batt pack from Foxpro simply because they are an awesome company.
