Foxpro Fury 2 GX500 Unable to Alter Any Files

I've had a Fury 2 for a while using the factory supplied sounds. I did add 3 additional sounds shortly after I got it for calling Myna Birds her in Australia which worked but from memory I had issues with. I've tonight tried for several hours to add more sounds for a hunt this weekend to no avail.

The problem seems to be (and I've tried it manually, in 2 different FoxPro programs on 2 computers) That nothing will actually delete from the unit itself. If I open the 'removable disc drive' after editing or deleting stuff in the FoxPro programs everything appears right. But when I went to send them across to the remote it stayed the same. Further attempts have shown as soon as I D/C the USB/Printer cable form the Fury2 its like the files magically reappear. If I reconnect the cable its back to what it was when I started. I've tried it with the caller in every config I can imagine. Speakers on and off, volume on/off, batteries attached/not attached.

I've tried overwriting files. just adding files, just deleting files, Everything I can think of but I'm always stuck with the same original 100 sound files I had when I bought it. The unit is 7 months old as it was a christmas present its only been out a few times and had a very easy life.

I'm sure the 3 other files I added were a PITA to do bu can't remember what I did/didn't do to get it to work then. I've gone thru the instructions step by step. I've watched the videos on the FoxPro website, I've tried changing the file properties and nothing seems to work to let me actually delete or alter the files on the Fury2.

Anybody got any ideas? ITs fox mating season her in Australia and I wanted to try out the new sounds I've got specifically for it and 5 hours later I'm no closer to getting it sorted and 5 hours behind in my packing.

And I've searched everywhere on the FoxPro forums and google-fued as much as I can but haven't found a single instance of the same problem. Only ever the remote playing up and getting a scrambled screen which is not my issue.

I've tried doing it every which way and clicking the eject command for the drive thru windows and still no good.

Update. Got some info from FOXPRO service.

Is it possible to have the required repair work done locally? With a competent electronics tech and the necessary memory card, the work itself could be done fairly easily. However, it's not recommended by FOXPRO. By going that route, realize that there is no warranty. The warranty coverage for parts and labor requires that the device be at this facility. In addition, any problems or damages that arise as a result of an attempt to repair it will not be covered by warranty.

The machine has a compact flash memory card (should be 4GB installed at present). The card resides in a card-socket on one of the two PCB's. The card will be glued into position. Once the machine is opened, the first thing you should see is the board with the USB port. The card is on the underside of that board. The board is connected to a second board through a bank of header pins and held down with 4 screws. Once the board is unscrewed and backed out, flipping it over will reveal the memory card. The glue will need to be removed. It's hot-glue, so typically a pair of tweezers can get the job done nicely. The original card can then be removed and a new card can be installed. Reassembly should then begin by reversing the original process and taking care that no wires are pinched during that stage.

After the device is back together, the card must be setup. This can be accomplished through Windows. Attach the device to the PC. Format the card with a FAT32 file system. Be sure to assign the volume label: "GX7" to the card as well. When that is complete, the next step is to install the sounds. If you did not make a backup of your sounds previously, we can provide you with a link from where you can download the original sounds. Finally, when the sounds are loaded everything should be back to normal.

Repair made and she's good to go again. 30 mins to replace the card and do all the reprogramming and i'm GTG tonight.

THANKS FOXPRO
