Foxpro Models Question

I am looking at purchasing a Foxpro unit, but I am unsure of which model I need to purchase. I hunt in South Georgia so we mostly have pine timber forests in various stages of growth. We almost always have clearcuts ranging from 200-400 yards across with swamps and hardwoods surrounding them or running through them.

I think that I need a call with pretty adequate volume and I like portability. I also don't want to spend a fortune each trip on batteries. Lastly, I want to be able to download sounds and preprogrammed sequences of sounds from my computer.

I am currently considering a new Firestorm or Fury, but have also found a practically new FX5 for $375. Is the 24-bit technology worth the extra money?

Thanks,
Thomas

I cant speak for the 24 bit, but, a firestorm or the fury should suit you well.

Even a fx3 would fit the bill. All pred calls has fx3 refurbs for a very good price now too.

I use a fx3 and it is all I need for where I live and very much like where you hunt too.

Personally I would want the additional presets offered on the Fury remote over the Firestorm. If you are looking for a way to save a little cash on the call and not compromise features the CS24 might be the perfect call for you. It has the same remote as the Fury, has all the bells and whistles and is about $100 less...I prefer the flashlight style case my Fury has but for $100 I think I could do without it. The FX5 is a good call as well but the remote range and usability of the Fury/CS24 is so much better I would recommend getting one if you can justify the price...they are excellent callers. Also buying new you will get the full warranty, you likely won't need it but it's nice to have piece of mind when you're plunking down money like that.

I traded an FX3 for a Fury and am planing on getting a CS-24 soon. I tried the Fox Fade and can't tell what it is supposed to do. I like the remote on the Fury/CS-24 much better then the FX3 because you can feel the buttons with gloves on. The recall feature is something I use all the time now and I really like the timer on it to tell me how long I have been on stand.
What ever FoxPro you buy you won't go wrong because you can sell it for about what you paid. My friend has a Spitfire that I am going to try because I loaned out my Fury to a boy in college that is off for a month. I plan on him finding some new calling spots and hooking me up.

Yes the 24 bit audio is worth the extra money! The CS-24 is the best call on the market IMO! You wont ever need or want another call.

Would you guys prefer the Fury over the CS-24 if they were the same price? If someone had the two of them in front of you to just take, which would you choose and why. Don't want to hi jack the thread but just want to know. Thanks

I'd get the CS-24 over any other caller out there given the choice. Reasons why: Tough as nails, Sounds great and is plenty loud without having to add any extra speakers, preset sounds & volumes. The upside of the Fury is that if you happened to lose or break the remote, you can still run the Fury from the caller itself. With the CS-24, you have to have the remote to operate it. That hasn't been a problem for me though, but something to consider if you have a habit of forgetting gear. I'd seriously think about the CS-24 though, the thing is really impressive.
