FoxPro Programmer and Windows Vista

Has anyone besides me had problems with Windows Vista and the Programmer for FoxPro callers? When and after I select the USB drive letter, it does not display the calls on the caller nor will it dispaly the backup button. I can select the same drive letter on the source side and see the caller sounds. I suspect it is Vista. Any ideas?

I have vista and it works fine with mine. I select drive letter and it pops up all the sounds on the fox pro. I just backed mine up.

I just make a new folder name it plug my foxpro into my computer brings up the sounds then I transfer them to the folder I made then down load them to a disk.......stump

That only solves the back up problem (I had already done that) but it will not let me re-program the sounds unless they show up in the right field.

Do you have a firewall protection, it may need to be disabled to download the program windows vista is a pain at times I have had to do it this way on diffrent programs.

I have doubts that it is a firewall issue. The Scorpion has the program on it's chip and no downloading is necessary. No internet connection is required at all. However, a downloaded version of the Programmer works the same as the one on the caller.

We have tried the program on two Vista machines and on XP machine and it looks/acts the same. We have downloaded the utility from FP and tried the version on the Scorpion.

The version on the Scorpion says it was created on 12/31/07.

I am pretty savy at using software but it seems we are missing a step or the software is buggy.

I wish there was some documentation somewhere.

I am been having the same problem with the program. I end up switching sounds by copy and paste on my FX3 using it like an other hard drive.

- Have you confirmed your computer is "seeing" the caller.. Simple to check.

First turn off your computer, then restart. Do not open up the FOXPRO programming software.

Plug in the caller to the computer with the USB cable... within a few seconds a window will pop up recognizing the caller, and assigning it a "drive letter" with the units serial number.. Does this occur?

If no window pops-up

Go to the widows start bar and select "my computer"..
In this screen you should see all your drives as well as a drive identified as your caller with serial number.

Is it identified? does your computer see the caller? what drive letter is it? this is the drive letter that needs to be selected in the "select" device block of the FOXPRO programming software.

That is the problem..
The pc recognizes the caller and assigns it "SCORPION(G:)".
The programmer only shows drive letter "g" as shown the above images.
We can access the sounds and drag and drop, but we can not use the utility to change anything.

It's my understanding and expirence the programming software will only recognize the serial number/identy of the unit that has a X1A xxx (for scorpion)
FX3 xxx , FX5 xxx , etc prefix..

It is very easy to check / modify the serial number so the unit can be programmed by the software.

Having programmed thousands of units, I have seen the problem a time or 2.. If you have to modify the serial number to add the prefex (or mistakenly changed, deleted or somehow modified the prefex or serial number), I would recommend you contact FOXPRO to let them know about the problem and the new serial number for warranty issues.

Man AP, you post fast..

I would like to thank AP for taking the time to post his number and willingness to help. Lord knows the time it took to post was twice as long as the time it took to fix..

Before it would not show a device in the "select device" box nor would it show any sounds in the "caller sound files" list.

By removing "SCORPION" and changing it to x1a xxxx in "MY Computer" the program was able to read the caller. Now the buttons are usable and the sounds appear in the file list.

Again, thanks AP for taking time from your busy schedule on a Sunday.

Riverswild - Glad to see that fixed you up.

To All - Regarding Windows Vista - The programming problem doesn’t have anything to do with Windows or Windows Vista. We have programmed literally THOUSANDS of FOXPRO’s using Window ME, XP, and now Vista without a hitch.

No wonder my coyote count is down this year -- working Saturdays & Sundays...

Good hunting,

AP
