Foxpro remote antenna pops off easy.

The antenna on my old model remote came off within a week of owning it. I bought a refurbished model. The antenna pops back on and works fine, but I'm curious if others have had this problem? Is this something Foxpro would replace?

Hi fivepaknh,

It sounds like the solder joint that holds the connector in place has broken loose. This usually happens when stress is placed on the antenna, such as sitting on the transmitter, or overtightening of the antenna. If you purchased a refurbished unit, the person that had it before you was probably the culprit. When you can be without the transmitter for a few days, send it in, and we will fix it for you at no charge. It must have been overlooked when we sent it to you. I apologize for the inconvenience. There is no charge to fix it. Here is our address to send it to:

FOXPRO Systems
609 West Fourth St.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Mike, the remote antenna on the refurbished 532 I just purchased does the exact same thing. The first time I used it, I couldn't get the remote to work out past about 5 feet, but finally figured out the black rubber part of the antenna had separated from the connector. It works fine now, but doesn't take much for it to work it's way off again. I carry my remote in a belt pouch, with not much risk of putting pressure on the antenna, so it must've been that way when it was shipped.

Anyway, it's no big deal as long as the user is aware of what's happening and pays attention so they don't loose the antenna. Now is a bad time for me to be without the remote because it's prime coyote hunting time, so I'll either solder it myself or send it back when the season is over.

Just something I thought you might like to be aware of for the future.

After thinking about it, is there a possibility of just buying a replacement antenna? Seems that would be an easier solution than sending one back for repair.

By the way, I'm very happy with my "refurbished" Foxpro 532B. The price was great and I used it to call and kill two coyotes on the very first outing. There's a picture in the photo gallery.

Thanks,
Daryll (Buster)

Hi Buster,

A new antenna will not fix the problem, as the connector that has come loose is what the antenna screws onto. We will have to disassemble the transmitter, and repair the connector. Again, when you can be without them for a few days, just send the transmitter in (we do not need the unit), and we will repair at no charge, and send them back to you the next day. Thanks, and I apologize for the inconvenience.
