FoxPro Sounds Question

Is there a way to be able to listen to FoxPro sounds on your computer? Whether it be converting the FXP format to MP3 or at the very least a program to download to listen to them?

Here's what I have going on. I want to use the FoxCast program on my Fusion but when using the program it asks you "Repeat Sound How Many Times?"

Well I don't know because I don't know how long each sound is. It would be better if the program asked "How LONG would you like to play the sound."

I most certainly don't want to have to charge my batteries and turn on my Fusion to have to time each sound with a stopwatch.

So is there any solution to this? And no, FoxPro doesn't know how long their sounds are either.

I'm sure others will chime in, but the only thing I can think of is with an audio editing program like Goldwave (free last I know of).

Short answer is no.

The second those sounds become listenable on a PC they become free to the entire world. So Foxpro isn't about to let that happen if they can help it.

LOL Thanks Dave, I appreciate it. So basically, to get the very most out of FoxCast, it's impossible thus making the program useless. Because if you can't use it precisely, then don't use it at all.

I am only faintly, dimly aware of what FoxCast even is. I'm positive I've never used it though. And "pretty sure" I'd never have any reason to. If it's that pre determined, pre built "sequences" thing that gets talked about, then absolutely, positively, I'd never have any reason to use it.

It is and I find it pretty cool. IF we were able to control the TIME for each sound and/or know the time for each sound, I think that it would be an invaluable tool.

You can control the sound, volume, pitch, decoy, etc...

For instance, while hunting fox, if I were able to set it for 15 minutes of Baybee Cottontail, then 15 minutes of titmouse tantrum, and finish with 15 minutes of Platinum Grey with only one push of the button, it would be indispensable.

on foxpro's website they have a preview of each sound but some guy is talking over each sound explaining what it is, but you can get an idea from it what they sound like.
In regards to foxcast, i have but rarely use it. On my maiden voyage with my crossfire I turned on the dinner bell sequence and promptly had a triple coming in but thats not to say it was necessarily the sequence that caused that. Problem with pre-set sequences of which I have programmed some of my own into my caller is that invariably the sound and/or volume will change at the most inopportune moment spooking something that was on its way. Pro is that its less hand movement.

I haven't tried any of their preprogrammed sequences, I just want to make my own. I had thought about the sound PREVIEWS but was doubting whether they're the entire sound or just a portion of it.

Yeah I just can't see where I'd ever want to try and predict what is going to happen on a stand. Any sound or volume changes I make are in relation to what is happening at the time. Just can't see anything good coming from trying to guess what's going to happen.

But, now that I see what you are trying to do, yeah, a time setting would be useful. Make sure you let Foxpro know, they just might surprise you and add it in the next update.

Meantime, it might be easier than you think to time the sounds. Maybe. I bet none of them are over 60 seconds long. And I would not be surprised if they are actually a standard length or lengths, like 30 seconds or 60 seconds. I know that at one time (though it was a LONG time ago...) all of their sounds were the same, standard length. No idea if that is still true, but it wouldn't take very long to find out if you start timing a few.

Lastly, I know you've already asked and got an answer. But... I'm fairly certain that "somebody" at Foxpro knows exactly how long each and every sound in the library is. Those sounds weren't recorded and edited in proprietary format. Somewhere exists the clips before conversion and so someone, somewhere there has access to the lengths at a glance.

Dave, that's a good point. Someone HAS to have an idea of the sound lengths. Thank you very much for that. Perhaps I'll send them an email asking instead of calling the customer service line. When I did call I told them that might be a good suggestion to pass along.

I too see what you're saying about adjusting in real time. The good thing is, even though you're running a hands free sequence, you can still adjust it manually while it's running.

pretty sure the lengths of most of the sounds are floating around somewhere on the net. positive i saw them at one time. can not remember where though. not much help.

When you save your sounds to your computer it will show you how big they are in KB from, but not in seconds.
You can reformate any ones sounds to mp3, just have to have a program to do it & the time it takes.

Thanks Ivet. I just wish that I could know the time of each sound and/or listen to them on my PC. I have no ill intended motives here. I just want to use a program to it's fullest potential. Maybe I'll just have to sit down and time the specific sounds that I want to use.

You can listen to your caller and time the sound you want to use. I have mine set on replay or loop. You need to set your caller so it plays the sound only once to time them.

I know one other thing, the individual sound sequences are probably longer than you think for just one loop. I know when I first programmed my sequences i watched like an entire quarter of a football game before it finally went from mouse to rabbit. obviously adjustments were needed lol.

I agree with DAA's comments above. I react to what is happening on each stand, and don't want to try to guess what is going to happen. With up to 50 presets available with one click, especially with my presets arranged in what I consider logical sequence, that suits my methods much better. The sequences that I have made using Goldwave don't go through a bunch of different sounds spaced out to where I guess where they need to be. If a coyote is responding to a particular sound, I don't want the sound to automatically change to something entirely different. IMO, that can spook a coyote quick.

Hey folks. Can someone repost a working link to the FoxPro Sound List/ Times of calls? I emailed FoxPro and was told they do not have a list of the various length of call sounds. I’m guess someone has done the homework since this 2017 original post.
I’m a new member. Pardon me if I’ve overlooked it. I search a couple of different ways.
