Foxpro Spitfire vs Fury

Gonna break down pretty soon & "upgrade" my digital caller. Is the difference between the Spitfire & the Fury worth the extra $$?
I've hunted behind the Fury a few times & the range of the remote & the volume are awsome. Call volume is a bit more important to me than the range. Usually we set the call up within 75 yards anyway. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

i got the spitfire, worth every penny!! what call are u using now? the LCD screen on the spitfire is awsome but the ecaller takes some time to get used too...umm the 24 pre set calls on the spitfire is all i needed but you can change them to your liking...the spitfire for 200 bucks is sweet..it called in a 31.5lb cat for me from 600yrds away....didunt see the point in spending 150 more for the fury for about 300 calls i would never use!

my opinion is spend sometime doing your reasearch and then talk to the wallet!

I switched from an FX3 to a Fury just for the remote range and it was worth it to me. It drove me nuts getting all set up just to find that the remote wouldnt work, and that doesnt happen with the Fury. Sometimes the FX3 would work at 100yds, sometimes it wouldnt work at 40yds, it just depended on the setup.

I have not had any problems with the remote range on my Spitfire. Like you, I was not sure if it would be loud enough. My neighbor and I got to discussing how far you could hear an electronic call compared to a good mouth call. We ended up doing some unscientific testing to see which could be heard the best.

I gathered up my Spitfire, a Johnny Stewart MP3 caller with horn speaker and several mouth calls. My neighbor lives a little over 1/2 mile from me. I got him on the phone and he stood outside and listened while I played the same sounds on both calls. I used Johnny Stewart MP3 sounds on both calls to be as fair as possible in determining loudness and sound quality.

First we tried coyote howls on an open reed call and then on both electronic calls. He could hear the electronic howls way better than the mouth call.

Next we tried two different open reed distress calls compared to a jackrabbit distress and a cottontail distress on the electronic calls. He could hear the open reed mouth calls but said they were not real loud. When I played the rabbit distress sounds on the Spitfire, he could hear it on volume level 4 with the phone to his ear and it was louder than the mouth calls. When I went to volume level 5 he said it was a lot louder than either one of the open reed mouth calls. I tried a closed reed mouth call and could not blow it hard enough for him to hear it. The Johnny Stewart MP3 caller at full volume was not quite as loud as the Spitfire at full volume.

With the Johny Stewart horn speaker plugged into the Spitfire it was even louder. When I hunt the river bottoms I sometimes wish I has something louder than the Spitfire but for what it costs I think it is pretty hard to beat.

Weather conditions were 45 degrees F. and light fog with no wind.

i have a spitfire and love it. for the price you cant beat it. the remote is awesome with the led display. its not the loudest call ive hunted with, but in PA i only hunt a good 200 yard max and it works perfect for that. you can easily hook up another speaker if u need it louder [beeep]. but overall i would recommend the spitfire.

Spitfire works for me. Had a pack out about 500+ YRDS going away and fire up the Spitfire to see there reaction. Within a second or two they spun around and tried to see the yote that they heard.

Appreciate the good advise folks...looks like I'll whip out the credit card & get on somebodies backorder list. None in stock as far as the eye can see it seems!

I bought the spitfire and used it with brand new batteries. The thing died in the field after 15 min. It kept shutting off. This was my first time using foxpro. I have been using Johny Stuart for years and now am debating on even trying foxpro again. It may have just been a bad batch.

You need to switch to a set of good rechargeable batteries. Mine did the same thing with Alkaline batteries. It wouldn't stay on at the higher volume especially in cold weather with the regular batteries.

Im not sure about the spitfire, but every Foxpro I've ever owned stated in the manual not to use alkaline batteries. This is not a ploy from them to get you to use they're batteries, it just means dont use them because they do not work right. I used alkalines once and only got about 15-20 min of calling out of them. With the rechargables I call all night and still have battery left. By all night I mean a night worth of calling stands, probably about 2.5 hours that the caller is actually playing.

Buy a good set of rechargeable batteries, as I had mine out at 8 below yesterday and it worked perfect. Batteries Plus recommended a charger and batteries by Nuon, it is a battery that doesn't take a set if not completely drained each time. A little more expensive but worth it in the long run.
