foxpro spitfire/wildfire VS primos alpha dogg

finally decided im not 100% content with the sounds quality of my home made e caller, it has worked awesome for the price but im gonna go ahead and step it up a notch. I have read great reviews about both the foxpro spitfire or wildfire, and the primos alpha dogg. Before i make up my mind id like to get some of your opinions on the two calls, and which you think is better. they're both around the same price but i want to buy the one with best sound quality, longest battery life, and good customer service.

FoxPro puts out nothing but quality products and if there is a problem big or small....... Then that is where there customer service sets them apart from the rest. FoxPro all the way

+ 1 You can't go wrong with FoxPro. Products are really good and service is even better if you ever need it.

I have the foxpro spitfire. I have been very happy with it. I picked it up late last season and never called anything in but it sounds a lot better than any of the cheap calls I have played with. I would get the wildfire over the spitfire, only because it holds more sound. Really the 24 sounds are more than I need and I know this but I have the sounds so I just like to know they are there if needed. I do have extra sd cards so I can change in the field if needed.

Sorry cant help on the primos alpha dogg

Just got my foxpro wildfire today. So far i like it allot, the sounds quality is really crisp, easy to use, controller is nice and also has foxbang, unit is small and compact. I think the cons of this e call is that the volume is just simply not loud enough, especially on a windy hunt, i think they made it this way so you almost have to order they're external speaker, other than that no complaints, ill be taking it out soon to see how it does and keep you guys posted.

im kind of confused though, i thought the tx9 could only cary 35 sounds at a time, but i just loaded more to my wildfire and its letting me play them all on the tx9 i have 40 calls loaded on there.

Personally, I have had bad experiences with Primos callers, then with Primos customer service thereafter, and have had great experiences with every fox pro I have encountered.

However, I have only had limited exposure to the alpha dogg. The biggest concern I have with it are the sound quality and speaker life, size, and moving parts. Coyote hunting for me is a lot like I imagine military campaigns, stuff needs to be tough, or it's not going to make it very long. The folding legs and side speakers of the alpha concern me for long term durability, my buddy had already broken one of his legs off his AD by driving off with it sitting on his flatbed. Pushing those 3 big speakers takes a lot of power as well, but that's just a matter of maintaining your batteries. The alpha is louder than my spitfire, but not as loud as my new hellfire. It's heavier and bulkier to haul around as well. Not my cup of tea, but otherwise seems like a vast improvement over the other Primos e-callers.

I haven't seen many glowing reviews yet for the alpha dogg, other than the standard cabelas 5 star reviewer that says "I just bought it, it's my first caller, it sounds awesome, can't wait to try it in the field". I'd be interested to hear where you saw positive reviews on the alpha dogg, not saying they don't exist, but I'd like to read a little more about how it holds up in the field.

I'll spare you my sales pitch on the spitfire and wildfire, they work, foxpro stands behind them, that's well known, so you don't need to hear me regurgitate it. My opinion/experience is that you can't go wrong with a foxpro, but you can't be so sure about Primos, so why bother?

i agree with you, and that is y i went with the foxpro wildfire, great call, good quality, easy to use, only thing i thought could be better is a louder speaker. But i guess that could be corrected with the external speaker foxpro sells.

Ive never had a foxpro I doubt I will. I'm only a novice but the AD is o lot of caller. I don't think it should be compared to the FP. Dollar for dollar the FP should be compared to the
AD. I really like the remote. The design is well though out.The build quality is great. PrImos makes a lot of different products Ive found them to be great.A pro may see things differently. Dollar for dollar I wouldn't trade my AD for a FP.

you only need 12 sounds on any call, don't spend more than 200.00, they all call in dogs, they all break, most won't work under 15 degrees, you can't bend remote frequency waves around corners, down hills or thru brush, every now and then a guy gets a lemon, most co. will take care of it, I have the power dogg, had it for 3 years paid 80.00 for it,calls in dogs every time I turn it on, still works, when it breaks I will put in a box send it to primos and let them frame it in the museum of calls lol, if you must have a 600.00 call go to foxpro.com forum you will find hundreds of guys who thought they needed a fancy caller begging for someone to buy theirs.

I have a spitfire & it's a good little caller. right now between the 2 I'd prolly go with a wildfire just bc it's a new model & holds way more sounds, but I agree, you really don't need a lot. 24 is not as few as it might sound.

prkrgrp,

Your statement about hundreds of guys selling their unit on our website was not worded accurately. The reason that a lot of them are selling them on there is so that they can upgrade to one of our new callers. We get many phone calls asking to trade them in so they can get one of the new models. Since we don't take trade ins, we instruct them to advertise them there, as they get sold pretty quick there. Just wanted to clarify your statement.

I hunted last year with a friend who bought and used a Primos Hotdog caller. It was ok if the wind was non existent and caller placed about 20 yards from you. I think out of the 6 months we used the thing maybe 2 days had no wind..the rest of the days the caller had no where near the volume needed. He resorted to me using my handcalls all winter

From my experience the big factor in calling coyotes is the volume. They wont come in to something they can't hear. Ive also found that all I need is about 12-15 calls, no need for hundreds or mixing capabilites.
I've been watching the Foxpro calls for some time now and with a $200 Wildfire II w/foxbang, and an extra speaker..they have a great set-up. I've been tossing the idea of the Hellfire as well...seems like a good call.
I handled the Primos Alpha dog and when its gets -35 (common winter weather in Saskatchewan) and your screwing around with speakers and stuff,,,its gonna snap. They are built in China and we know kinda junk those guys make.
Foxpro all the way!!!!
