I have an old Johnny Stewart cassette caller that is a heavy sob. I bought it new which slould tell you about how old I am getting. So I have been looking to get a new caller to replace it at least when I am walking a far peice. Looking at the foxpro spitfire and was wondering how loud it iscompared to the old Johnny Stewart. It is loud. Also the forpro has a jack on it for a speaker and was wondering if the speaker for the Johnny Stewart wold work on it. Does it have enough power to use that big of a speaker? Don't know how many watts it is though. How does the foxpro compare to some of the other callers in the same price range. Anything you guys can tell me would help. How about the remote range on it and others.

KBBGOOD,

I have 2 callers for sale.

One is a Foxpro Spitfire and the other is a Foxpro FX5

I have rarely used the Spitfire and i use the FX5 all the time. FX5 has a speaker on the front and one on the back with seperate on/off buttons. Also has a jack for a 3rd speaker. Nice thing about the FX5 remote is the timer. I like to know when the yotes come in and i also like to know when it is time to move on to another location.

You can't go wrong with any Foxpro game caller and their customer service is top notch.

If you are interested in either let me know.

But how loud is the spitfire? Does it reach out there or would it need a bigger speaker to do it. I know I can get more speakers from them.

I hunt wide open country and it is plenty loud.
Anytime the wind is blowing it cuts down on the distance the sound will carry.

If you are in a tighter area the Spitfire is more than enough.

I know that at one time a guy posted videos on the Spitfire and how the volume carried on each level at various distances.

Check it out!

I also have a Spitfire. Its a good caller. I would say the sound is loud enough especially for tight woods calling. But there are times I wish it were just a little louder. For example locating in open areas and fields. If you had the money I would consider a Firestorm or FX5.

IMHO

Buy another JS system. The sounds are far better. I got a spitfire and really regret it. It only holds 24 sounds at a time and they are not worth the 200$ price tag. .
Only thing I like is you could see the sound name on the remote. It feels like a kids toy. Its a plastic case with couple switches a speaker and couple jacks. The aux jack is useless on it. You have to hold it constantly for the decoy to work. Why would they do that? You can't really use a larger speaker on the ext speaker jack, cause the amp cant put out enough power to feed it.

Alot of great reviews about the flextone echo and you get 100sounds and they are Wildlife technology sounds. Real animal sounds that have not been manipulated. You might want to try one of those.

I don't know anything about the FP higher priced units,What I heard of their sounds when listened to them thru good headphones and watch the graphs. I find them to be of poor quality.

I have the spitfire and use it in wide open fields yes it is loud enough it could be better. IMHO I would really look around at some of the other callers! There are callers out now with more features and hold more sounds for less money. If you feel you need the FP name skip the spitfire and go for the wildfire as it has foxbang and I feel that is the only thing FP has over the others! If I would have paid full price for mine I would have been disappointed.

Needless to say I have thought about selling mine and still might if I ever get the pics taken.

Wow! Really? I would give FOXPRO a call and talk to their techs, The "Aux" should engage and then disengage the decoy and not function as you describe by having to constantly hold down the "AUX" button that's shear nonsense,..Also the "Amp" in the Spitfire is plenty big enough to drive the Foxpro SP-55 speaker adding a very noticable increase to the volume of the Spitfire. May want to try some newer quality batteries if your not using them.

As far as only having 24 sounds,..well,. you may have missed reading that part before your purchase.

Anyway you look at it there must be something fishy going on with your caller that I would address with FOXPRO,to have these/your issues resolved.
