Free Float Tubes

I was wondering what everybody's favorite free float tube was? How about the Hogues? I like the rubber grip it seems comfy.

I went with the DPMS fluted one on my D-Tech. The knurled ones grab onto my gloves like Velcro.
Hogues are nice, my float tube is covered in camoform tape, so it's kinda comfy already.

Check and see if you can mount a bipod stud on the Hogue before you decide. That may be a problem.

Good call there, the Hogue doesn't look like it has a stud on it. I could add one but I'll keep looking, don't know if I've ever seen a DPMS one in person, I'll check them out.

I used a JP Enterprises VTAC model, you can mount a stud on it anywhere and you can also mount 1913 rails on it, if you wanted back up irons, or a light or something. It's very light, and it's textured for a good grip.

The more I do this the more I like Yankee Hill Machine quad
rails. If you want a round front end, put rubber covers on the
rails. That way when you want to accessorize the rifle, you
peel a cover off, and bolt on what you want. Oh, you will
want to accessorize eventually...It happens to all AR owners.

I have one vented DPMS, one non-vented RRA, one non-vented
DPMS that got too close to my drill press, and is now vented
and one YHM quad rail. All future free float tube purchases
will be YHM tubes.

P.S. Studs are just another bolt on accessory, and can go on the
bottom rail for a bi-pod, or a side rail for a sling mount.

I had a 16" upper with a full length 16" float tube on it and sold it. I wish I could find another like it I thought it was model 1.

Some people can't use quads w/wo the rail covers.like me. Arthritis, it can really make it painfully to handle a weapon if the fore-end is to wide. And you don't have to be an "OLD FART" to have arthritis.
