I have a six year old female Chocolate Lab that needs a new home. She will come with papers and has bore one litter of pups. She is by no means a hunting dog. Never trained at anything. I must get rid of her after an attack on a cat a 2am this morning. I'm afraid something may happen if my 2 year old son gets around her. she is good with other dogs and teens and adults.
pm me don't want to put her down.

Have you had her around young kids before? We had a chow chow(chinese fighting dog) when i was yound and she killed cats coons opposum anything but she would not let anyone touch me except mom and dad. My grandma tryed to pick me up when i was like 4 and casey growled and my grandma put me back down and casey got put away in her kennel.

I live in middle TN area am interested in you lab. live on big farm with plenty of room to run and play. big ole front porch that i bet she would just love to lay around on. I have a registered male that is choclate. he lives to try and keep the barn cats hymed up in the barns. i bet he run 60 mile a day from the porch to the barn . never hurt a cat, but dont like them leaving the barn. funniest thing you ever sat and watched. as far as kids go, my little girl BELONGS to him, not him belonging to her. where ever she goes you can bet hes right there by her.

She's not ever really been around kids. But the way she's acted when we've had my son out in the yard make me wonder. I have a male who loves everyone. The big farm may be exactlly what she needs.

Oh i was thinking that was like the only dog you had because I think that all kids should have a dog as a young child. You should let your male dog around your son as much as possible he wll become his guardin when you aren't looking.

Sounds like a little turf battle between a dog and cat, nothing else. I've never seen a nasty female lab in 60 years.

thats what I was thinking,

This isn't a first for her and it's not just the cat I've had the cat for five years so it's not like he's new to the place. I actually had to fire a round off in the air at 2 am to get her of the cat.

For what it is worth I know some people who had a lab for aobut 7 years. One day the lab went crazy and attacked the lady. Broke her arm in 25 places. I have had a lab in the family all of my life and have never seen a mean one. They also had not seen a bad one, until now. They had an autopsy done to see if they could find something wrong. They couldnt. The vet directed them to a web sight that talked about how the breeding of the labs has gone hay wire due to bad breeding and it is causeing aggression that just happens all of the sudden with no warning. I wish I could remember the web sight.
