Friday night female

1st stand I walked out to set the call and my buddy lip squeaked to get my attention. I scanned and saw a coyote crossing the filed. I laid down beside the call and selected Vole Squeaks. The coyote turned and started in. At about 100 yds it started to flare off and go away. My buddy killed her there. Female. When he walked out to recover her I saw a 2nd one come out but it saw him and turned around and left the field. We could not convince it to come back.
Next stand I walked out to set the call and when I turned to walk back I saw a bobcat just inside the fence line in some pretty thick stuff. I lip squeaked and my buddy finally saw it, maybe 25 yds behind him. He shot and we both saw the impact but it jumped and ran back into the very thick brush. We looked hard but never did find it. We could have been within feet of it, it was just so thick we could not see it.

Where I hunted that would be a pretty good day, Mike, too bad you couldn't find the cat. They can sure get back into the thick stuff in a hurry.

You guys are quite the killing duo. Do you have many skunked nights?šŸ˜‰
We've had plenty of blank nights in past seasons. But I am only hunting on weekends now because I cannot go solo. So far this season we have not had a night that my buddy has not pilled the trigger. I know that won't last as we start hunting spots for the 2nd, 3rd time.

I'm curious about what state you are in. I live in upstate SC and Bobcats are pretty rare around here. I'm envious, I would love to just watch one much less hunt them. I never thought about what I would do if one come in to the call, I would probably let it walk out of shock.lol

If you have any cats in your area here are a couple of tips that have served me well over the years. Started a new thread so as not to hijack Mike's post. BOBCATS

I'm in southern Virginia. We do have a fairly good population of bobcats. I mostly coyote hunt so we don't really target them. The most we have killed in one season was 13 a few years ago. I think we killed 8 last year.

SC doesn’t have cats??? Good Lawd, they about as thick as possums down here in SWGA.
I live on lake Hartwell on the SC GA line right at I 85 and there are not many here for what ever reason. A guy I know caught one in a trap last season but I've lived here 30 years and have never seen one nor caught one on a trail cam nor had another hunter report one!

Thanks for the reply, we just do not seem to have many around here. I am happy for you to have them.
