Does anyone know the area. My son will be stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood during turkey season. We are trying to get a hunting weekend while he is there.

Are there any public hunting area nearby.

Last time I was there was in 1966, courtesy of the US Army. Great place to be from. Lake of the Ozarks is a very pretty area in spring.

That is the same thing my son called it in 02 during his basic training there. He is now at Ft.Bragg. They are sending him back for a course on investigations. It is a 60 or so day course and he will have weekends off. It is an 8 hr drive from here and we hope to get a hunt or two in.

I live on Ft. Wood! There is 63,000 acres of huntable land on post. Plus millions of acres of Mark Twain National Forest all around the post. I hunt on post, and there is alot of turkeys and other game. PM me and I can give you my phone number.Anything that you need to know about the place, I'm your man. I've got maps, and can show you some places when you get there.People do hunt it, but its not really a bunch after you consider how much land there is. I'd be happy to help ya out. Let me know. All right guys. I'm up here in the Land of the Lost again. I made it here the night before I was to report through no fault of my own. This is due to the fact that my car decided to let it's thermostat go out about 60 miles out. For those of you who do not have AAA Plus membership, I recommend it. They came and put it on a flat-bed, hauled me down the interstate, dropped me and the car off in the hotel parking lot, and told me to have a good night. All for the membership fee that I pay anyway. Back to the matter at hand. I'm up here for 8 weeks for MPI school (Military Police Investigations). You know, fingerprints, tire tracks, drug buys, financial crimes, cybercrimes, burglary, et cetera. All the nasties. I know a good bit of it from doing the job for the past six months or so, but I know I'll learn some things anyway.
