Cut the last field of beans 2 days before Thanksgiving. Call my old calling partner Crawford up to see what he was doing for Thanksgiving as he has moved to Grove ,OK on Grand Lake. Invited him to come up to call the day before Thanksgiving and stay and have dinner with the family the next day.

He arrived around 1 pm and we took off. Called a lot of good places with no takers. Crawford has never had a chance to shoot a bobcat. I have called in a few when he was with me but it always turned out I set him in the wrong spot and I shot the cat. I had seen a big cat while cutting beans around an old abandoned farm sight. We got there about 30 minutes before sunset.

The beans had been cut around the sight and we could set up about 90 yds with our back to a brushy drainage creek.

Started up Bukers bobcat special and in less than 5 minutes had a big tom setting at fields edge. Crawford took the shot, but had not checked his zero on his rifle before come up and I didn't think to ask. He hit the cat but it was low left as I was watching thru my scope. Long story short we did find him, still alive and I had to dispatch him bare hand as I did bring my 22 and was not going to put another 6mm bullet in him. Crawford is going to have full body mount.

Here I am after dragging him out of the brush

He was more excited when I grabbed it from under the log and it tried to get me. Had to do the swing over the shoulder head against the log hammer move. Got a little exciting there for a few seconds.

Thanks for sharing your hunts. That is one nice bobcat. Love hunting them cats. Waiting on one to get back from the taxidermist anyday now.
