Fur prices

Thats what it says the top end was moving at. This is coming from the January issue of fur fish & game. but it also says the heavier pelts are moving below $20

you can't go by what they say in Fur Fish and game and the trapper & predator caller mags, they are stating the prices they want to see the fur at not what Nafa and FHA is selling at.

heres a link to the Ohio State Trappers Assoc. forum with at postin on the last fur auction we had. this is usually the best sell of the season. and our fur is comparable to indiana's fur.

i live east of harrisburg pa. just attended a furt sale on sat. coyotes were (the better ones) around $25, i saw one that was offered $27.50 but the bid was refused. grey fox brought bwteen 28 and 40, probably the average on reds around 16 (there was a real nice small lot that brought 24) possum wer 2 to 4, rats between 2.50 and 4.30 (there was also some that didnt bring that) and coons up to $24 dollars (there werent many of them) male mink up to $15 and females around $10. as we all know buying a certain type of fur (i.e. coons muskrat whatever) is like buying a used car, some are worth more than others.

Spoke w/ a buddy this evening from SE KS. He sold some coons and coyotes last week on the carcass. Coons $12-15, coyotes $12 tops. Didn't have any cats, but said they were going $50-150. Buyer told him China has been buying up the majority of coyotes, but their Gov't had shut down several of the major tanneries (didn't give a reason) and the market currently was stagnant.

my fur buyer is giving out 20-25 for a clean shot coyote in the round, coon 15-20, and 150-300 or 400 for bob cat Deepen on the quality, size, and spots.

the newest predator extreme mag i recieved said the fur prices were down on coyotes bc they had a large amount left over from the last sell..

when you guys are giving these prices and taking them to sells are you taking them completely tanned out and done or are you just taking them skinned out and nothing else?
ive always wondered what type of preparation had to be done to the furs before you took them to the sells.

Around here getting $15-20 in the carcass and $35-40 for stretched and dried yotes. Coon are $15-20 in the carcass....not sure about finished.

Go to furharvesters.com and request their free pelt handling manual, it is full of info.
I have found the articles in FFG and Trapper/Pred caller to normally come pretty close. I think they don't do a bad job in forecasting what furs may sell for. They miss a few at times but for the most part-they do alright.
Here are a few results from our Jan fur auction here in WV.
Coyote:avg19.55-top29.00
Red:17.60-20.50
Grey:34.36-38.00
Bobs:52.26-70.00
Coon:11.09-24.00
Hope this helps

Sold one on Jan. 9 for 12 bucks. I had shot it that same day and was going by the buyers, so decided to test the market before I thaw all of the others out. I am in southern Missouri.
