Garmin DC40 problem

I have a couple of DC40s that I run with my Astro 320 receiver. 3 of my collars constantly give locations and I have very up to the second locations. I have one collar that seems to lose communication and not give locations nearly as often. They were all bought at the same time and have new batteries. Anyone ever have this problem or know any reason why this one may not work the same?

One other thing to check is that they both have the same program and maybe you should check for updated program for your units. Go to Garmin Web site and look for their Webupdater and plug your unit into your computer and update them both to the newist program for your unit and both should work better.

The update is set the same. I will check on the up to date downloads. I was thinking that maybe the antenae was not working as well, but it doesn't seem like that has happended to anyone else.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You can pull the back off it and check if the Antena has a good connection. Also may want to try and change the setting on the one that is not working as good and then put it back to the same setting as the other one.

That has happened! Buddy over at Big Game Houndsmen / Double U Supply has had customers send in collars with that issue. He has come up with some sort of fix that is supposed to improve consistency of reception, and address the weak connection between the unit and the antenna. From what I understand, the wiring loses connection within the cable, so it can't be seen, and still makes contact and communicates some of the time, just not as consistently as it should.
