Get out of the LEFT LANE !!!!!

if cars are passing you on the right, you are in the wrong lane!! i love the people that drive in the car pool lane and go slower than the rest of the lanes just because they have 2 or more people in car.

Missouri used to be posted "Keep to Right Unless Passing", but I haven't seen one for several years...

Two years ago, Illinois passed law that prohibited "Cruising" in the left lane and tickets were to be issued if you drove in the left lane for more than a mile (Never saw it enforced)

I'm like you,,, Wish it were in every state, and enforced... those kind of drivers cause as many accidents as anyone else.

I've seen people reading books, newspapers, etc and hogging that lane, with traffic piling up behind them... and then other drivers are trying to cut in and out of different lanes trying to get around them...

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always thought I was the only one that was upset about people living in the left lane.

It seemed like I35 between Oklahoma City and Stillwater was the worst.

Maybe now we will see some improvement.

My wife and I were just discussing this last night. They enforce it here. Just a couple days ago during a snow storm a coworker was cited for traveling in the left lane going to work. After the citation he repeated it and surprise the officer pulled him over again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

We have that law here in colorado, I dont think the fine is as steep (which it should be) and its not inforced. I see it every day.

The one that gets my dandruff up is the 18 wheeler passing another 18 wheeler, doing 1/2 mph faster or less. This usually happens on a hill, and thereby backing up the "4 wheelers" for some distance, until that truck finally passes, or usually, the truck he's trying to pass pulls ahead, and then he falls back into the line where it should have been in the first place.

Like others have said here also, you'd think getting passed on the right, on a 2 lane interstate, would give you a clue that you are driving too slow?? I have found of late, usually the ones doing that have one ear with a cellphone attached. Don't know why, but when they get on the phone, they seem to back off on the throttle, for some reason. Glad to see the laws changing with no mobile cellphone use, unless handsfree, although, I think it is going to hard to enforce for the majority of the time.

Or they are speeding. I keep hearing everyone call the left the fast lane. I didnt know the speed limit was different in that lane. I have passed people at 75 in a 65 and people still get on my butt because they think me doing 75 is to slow. Just how fast is the speed limit in that lane. Or you get the guy that rides your butt when you are in the right lane already going faster than the speed limit and expects you to move out of his way instead of him moving into the left lane. Most people only tailgate me once. They want to get pushy I push back.
People need to learn to slow down and enjoy the drive. Everyone going so fast watching the bumper or tail lights of the car in front of them. No wonder there are so many accidents. And they think the guy doing the speed limit enjoying the ride is the idiot!! I personally think most drivers are jerks.

It's a new law here but, I don't think it is agressively enforced. IMHO, it should be! People having to pass on the right is dangerous! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Whats it been out about a year now right?

if you are in the right lane and nobody can pass you on the right then you are in the right !! you allways get jerks that ride your butt no matter where you drive. if you are doing 50 mph in a 65 and you are in the right lane, you are cool with me. you should drive out here in calif. and watch the knuckle heads!! to many people get shot for pushing back out here!! enjoy!!

Here in Washington the left/fast/inside/lane is for passing, if you are not passing you are not supposed to be in it. It is enforced randomly.
As a person who has been rear ended about 9 times, if someone is tailgating get out of the way. You wont care about "who is right" when you are in the emergency room.

Most of the times I was hit was by little cars at relativly low speed, they get hurt hitting the back of my pick-up!! Two times by semis, both times were on the job, first time I was stopped by the interstate clear off the shoulder while checking weed kill from spraying, second time a log truck while I was stopped behind cars turning left off of a two lane highway. A big dodge power wagon hit me and my family from the rear when we stopped behind people turning left, both kids whip lash, Mother with pending neck surgery.

Broken cheek bone, nose and forehead, stitches, spinal fusion in neck, herniatred disc in low back, over a year off work.

I repeat: If tailgated GET OUT OF THE WAY, FAST.
Carl

I have never seen it enforced in Kentucky but hope they start.

The only thing that bothers me is sometimes I will pass someone that is going to slow in the right lane, but wont just floor it and pass them all at once because I dont want to pour on a burst of speed and happen to get a ticket, but then at the same note sometimes people in the left lane get right up on me, even though Im passing. So, theres a fine line there I guess
